Why try to get Francis into college? He’ll only flunk out and waste his mother’s money.

If he can’t hold down a job for a whole day what makes her think he can stay in college for more than a day?

Francis is a fine ambitious young lad of the same moral cut of Andy Capp. Momma, you should be trying to find him a wife.

if francis is not supposed to say anything stupid then he couldn’t pass any oral interview for college or a job

Momma said something stupid by telling Francis not to do that in the presence of Ms. Smith.
If Mrs. Hobbs found a woman to be Francis’ wife, she would have to be a person who let her mother-in-law run her life, too.
If a guy finds a wife, wouldn’t that mean the woman is already married?
In the Hebrew and Greek Scripture texts, the words translated as “wife” in English” actually just mean “woman.”
