Yep. We all know that violence in entertainment for children is a modern phenomena. Witness the lyrics to this quaint charming lullaby:

You should hear what the soldiers sing as they run and march. Terrible things.

I had a little dog and his name was Jack
I sat him in the middle of the railroad track
Along came a train and it went Toot-toot
And it hit him in the place where he goes poop-poop!

Dad hates mom and mom hates dad,
Should have heard the fight they had,
Gave little sister real bad dreams,
Woke me up with her awfull screams,

If you think those are bad, read Grimms fairy tails. The originals are NOT like what Disney presented.

I remember this song, only my sister and I did it this way:

    “I had a little turtle,
    His name was Tiny Tim.
I put him in the bathtub
To see if he could swim.

“He ate up all the water,
He ate up all the soap,
And now he’s sick in bed
With a bubble in his throat.

    HICCUP!”

We always looked forward to the “hiccup” part.
