Sad but true. The use of profanity in everyday language is a big part of the deliberate dumbing down of America.

Unfortunately it is not just HBO. It is all over TV. We don’t use those words in our household and I am somewhat offended when I hear them on TV. Usually they are not necessary

I can remember getting cable back in 1980 and having HBO. I felt so adult and was so fascinated with the shows and movies. Haven’t been able to afford it for YEARS, and don’t feel as if I’m missing too much now. There may be critically acclaimed programs, but the profanity is off-putting.

I agree that they’re usually not necessary. I only use profanity when I’m really upset and never around my kids. I think that use of it shows laziness and ignorance if those are the first words you can come up with.
