The awareness of capitalism’s core mechanisms (as opposed to its effects) is so crucial because the system has numerous methods of assimilating our struggles, and we have to make sure we don’t get sidetracked. It diverts discontent into forms that reinforce its own institutions. These are very sophisticated and persuasive – they make people feel that they are making a difference when in fact they’re tightening the bonds of their own oppression.

Divide and conquer is still working today. One of their best weapons. But money buys many too. Others they starve to death, assassinate their reputations works too.

Sorry Steph, but you are wrong on this one. Foundations set up by corporations and the rich are used as tax deductions. As you know tax deductions increase, or allow companies to retain profits. Corporations etc. are always free to withdraw $$ from their foundations if need be, although they would pay taxes at that point. If you watch PBS you would be surprised at how many shows the Koch Foundation support that they would see as opposed to their political and economic positions. That is occurring because the Koch’s don’t care. As long as the wealthy and their corporations own the government, it doesn’t matter matter what the foundations support. Owning the government gives them a lot more bang for their buck, especially for keeping the population under their control, than what foundations can.

Capitalists are the last to censor other people.

@Ms. Ima
Capitalists sensor the people all the time. But unlike our Bill of Rights only affects the govt, not businesses. Boy are you naive.
