Name a socialist policy of Obama. Can you define socialism? The fact is, Obama would be considered far right in most western democracies – but the American political landscape is tilted so far right that a man who has only slightly deviated from the far right policies of his predecessor, a “Bush lite”, can apparently be labelled a socialist. The reality is that America’s politics seem to be sliding closer to fascism than socialism – and looking at countries like Norway, which can lay claim to to at least being social-democratic, if not socialist, they have produced a society of enviable health and services – and have a government savings fund of over 600 billion, which means their government can largely be run off the interest. Sounds like those “socialists” know how to turn a tidy profit.

Fascism is a form of socialism with strong overtones of nationalism. While fascism allows for and encourages private ownership of industry the government dictates what will be produced.

Norway is hardly a fair comparison as it is not a typical socialist country. With a population of only 5 million well educated people and the largest oil and gas reserves per capita of any country outside of the middle east, Noway can easily pay for social services that many other countries cannot afford. One quarter of Norway’s GDP comes from oil and gas revenues and Norwegians have the fourth highest per capita income in the world. Norway has also rejected joining the EU since they don’t want to adopt immigratioin policies that would allow/require more ethnic minorities to move to Norway. There is also concern in Norway that with an aging population that they may not be able to continue funding the social safety net current levels.

One way where automation can pay is to use automation but pay the people it displaces. Since robots don’t buy anything it can keep the economy going.

You may wonder why anyone would put up with this miserable nightmare for even one second. They do because of the superstructure—the ideas (or ideology) and political institutions that we can picture as a shell around the economic structure, both supporting it and shaped by its needs.

Funny how you use “cooperate” when what you really mean is “give in completely and do everything your way with no regard for their own interests or beliefs.”

New recurrence formula:
ts+1 = (d (ts – h T[s+1]) + T[s+m+1]) mod q,
where h = dm-1 mod q
