    The idea of producing a good is to sell it. And it’s only logical to improve the production steps to increase output. Very good logic. But, in a communistic society, they would be giving the product away for free since everyone shares equally. There would be no incentive to make it faster, cheaper, use less resources, make it more eco-friendly because all their resources are free, supplied by happy comrades who also work for the good of the elite leaders of their country.

    The goal of each individual capitalist is to maximize profits, in other words, to accumulate as much surplus value as possible. But for the system overall, too much surplus value causes problems. It can’t all be absorbed back into the economy.

    What do they do with it? They can’t just leave it lying around to depreciate; they have to get rid of it somehow.

    What to do with ‘surplus value’ (aka profits)? Put it in the bank, buy more equipment, hire more people, pay higher wages, pay more benefits, donate to the community, build a house, buy a car and the obvious pay more taxes to name a few of the infinite opportunities to spend extra money.
    The only people that have problems with too much profit are drug dealers who have to hide and launder money. They eventually get caught or killed.

    Marx was no nihilist. And surplus product needs to be gotten rid of. So they dump it on someone else unsuspecting.

    End the drug war and their profit would reduce it a more normal number.

    Pete has a point, under Marxism there is NO surplus value. Everything possible goes to the war machine, with what little left over is given to just sustain the population to keep them under human slavery (just look at North Korea as a shining example of what a modern day Marxist dictator treats his country). Now imagine America under the stormtrooper boots standing on the neck of anyone not ‘getting into the Marxist party mood’.

    @Pete Rogan

    For a Republic the USA has far too many boots, soldiers, war machines and bases around the world and growing. We the People get little out of it but more cuts to our welfare and earned protections.

    Could you name, analyze and show how one of his ideas was inane and fanciful?

    Again I say Marx & Engles were anti-nihilists but not nihilists. You can show me where they were nihilists. Should be easy for you.

    Which it is why it has been proven over and over again both in the USA and over in Europe that a mix of Capitalism and Socialism is the best way to do things.
