Fact is, if this life is all we get, the sentiment “every man for himself” is quite justified. If it isn’t, then there’s plenty that matters even more than saving the planet – or even our own lives.

It looks like Chip has been taken over by the ghost of his father. The only way to control him is to threaten to kill his bartender and cut off his source of sustenance.

That sentiment is the death knell of humanity don’t you get it? That is the 5th and last level of collapse of civilization as Orlov sees it. We are ready for that kind of final collapse in the USA. Though it doesn’t mean we can’t build up again but it won’t ever be the same. And it doesn’t mean that our civilization will be changed for the worse. For you see in such a bad climate scenario Fascism is the choice to “maintain control” and the rich and their corporations are ready to step in to do it.

No one calls themselves ‘our class’.
Chip is right. The world will end someday but it won’t be due to grandma driving to the store or turning on a light.
What America doesn’t use will be consumed by China and India and they don’t give a rats behind about what simple minded global warming believers think.

Stop the project, Chip, so the next higher bidder will get it.

you might want to point out which orlov you are talking about, the one talking about peak oil, one of the Russian nobles, the philosopher which one.

The one talking about the 5 stages of civilization collapse. cluborlov.blogspot.com Like here from 2008: http://cluborlov.blogspot.com/2008/03/collapse-party-platform.html
If the entire country were to embrace the notion that collapse is inevitable and that it must prepare for it, a new political party might be formed: the Collapse Party. If this party were to succeed in upending the two-party monopoly and forming a majority government, this government would then want to implement a crash program to dismantle institutions that have no future, create new ones that are designed to survive collapse and save whatever can be saved. If, further, this crash program somehow succeeded, in spite of constitutional limitations on government action, and in spite of the inevitable lack of financial resources for such an ambitious undertaking, and in spite of the insurmountable bureaucratic complexity, then I for one would be really surprised!

America has had a 2 party system since the civil war. Why didn’t America collapse right after that?
The collapse will come when the President signs enough socialist laws that the working class can’t support the welfare class.

@Ms. Ima
you mean when the president signs enough fascist laws that the people cant support the rich crook class.
Ms. Ima said, 10 months ago
@zon moy
That is correct. The rich are destroying the country by being hogs and not giving everything to people that can’t or won’t work. I see where the revolutionaries will run the country fairly and equally.
zon moy said, 10 months ago
@Ms. Ima
at least now you are seeing sense, I figure you would once you noticed that when the tax rates on the rich were high and they were held in check the economy is great, when the government sells us out to them then the economy falls apart for everbody but them.
