    The NY Times did a piece on how Michigan gave up massive tax breaks to the film industry to create jobs in Michigan. The tax breaks sent money out of Michigan to Hollywood and the number of jobs created relative to the breaks was not a good deal.

    I don’t think it ever was a good idea to give tax breaks to bring an industry to your state (what ever state). It meerly passes the expenses on to the existing populace.
    .
    We’ve seen so many blow up in the face of the states, we should know by now.
