It’s a little annoying to get so wordy in the funny pages, but when Thompson does, it’s usualy worth reading.

Republican “pledge” is quite literary - “The Turn of the Screw”.

we had a full accounting and the result was simple and clear, to quote the dead senator daniel patrick moynihan

    “EMBEZZLEMENT”.

the government embezzled the social security trust fund decades ago when they used it in an accounting trick to offset the national debt.

now the republicrats, emboldened by the passage of obamacare (see it was possible to pass), want to take the little bit of cash that’s left in the “trust fund”, give it to their friends, and when the checks start to bounce they will do what they did with the credit crises. Open the doors to the treasury, point out it’s empty, and shrug their shoulders and say,

    “how’d that happen?”

scary thing is they do it with a straight face.

scarier thing is we keep buying the same ole’ stuff.
