We all must realize that our fellow citizens are to be feared and mistrusted. The only entity that is to be trusted, the only source of good and our sole protection from evil is Government.
Your neighbors are out to kill you, rob you, cheat you, they pollute your air and water and will molest your children. You should fear them and live under suspicion for them, knowing you have a perfect, sovereign controlling legal authority(unless of course you’re AlGore) to rely completely upon for all your needs and security.
    All praise Washington.*

Deadliest by population 2012: Flint 64 homicides per 100K. New Orleans with 193 murders only came in third at 53.3/100K. Chicago, not in the top ten, with only 18.7/100K population, even though they did off 506. It IS that deaths per 100K population that gives you your odds of getting killed there.

I don’t know where you’re getting your stats, if they’re homicides or homicides by firearm, if they include suicides, or anything else.

Both these sites say Chicago leads the Nation’s cities in homicides, both in sheer numbers and homicide rate per 100,000. (Though I do admit I’m missing something. They both say Chicago’s homicide rate is about 43/100K, and later in the article say the rate is 4/100K and 15/100K, respectively:

    Time Magazine 1/2/14

    Daily Beast 1/1/14

explain to me, why having a gun means freedom? that having a gun means that you are a call of duty super soldier? that having a gun means never having to rely on law enforcement? that being afraid of everything means that having a gun gives some sense of not being afraid? that having a gun is a deterrent? and, why having a gun one needs more than 100 bullets, full automatic, and every attachment? and, why does one need more than 1 gun?

A lot of you guys are missing the point. In Georgia, I believe, a man openly armed with a rifle strolled around a PLAYGROUND saying “I have a gun! You can’t do anything about it!”
Parents rightly called the police, but he was apparently within his legal rights to be a threatening @hole.
This is your freedom? Parents with children afraid to take their kids to the park?

hundreds more people are SAVED by gun carrying law abiding citizens than are killed….taking away the guns of honest people results in only the criminals being armed….

I found that story. Why do you leave out the quotes from the director of Georgia Carry, a gun rights and lobbying organization, questioning what the man was trying to do.

“There’s a right and a wrong way to exercise your right. This is not the right way,”

or the mother of a child that was scared:

“I own a gun. I have no problems with the Second Amendment. But they do not belong in a parking lot where we have children everywhere. If you want to make a statement, go to the Capitol.”

And what does this have to do with the toon?

I am still waiting (cringing) for the story about the sudden outbreak of a gunfight when the outcome is several shot because everyone wanted to stop it…by firing off a few rounds at an assumed “bad guy with a gun.”

How many years have you been waiting? How many years will you continue to wait? There aren’t any more guns, really. But there are more stories about guns.

@Hedgehog How many more years will I continue to wait you ask. What a repugnant question.

“There aren’t any more guns, really.” Really?

How about gun deaths in the US compared to the rest of the developed world?

@mextea – Where do you get that law-abiding citizens save others? I’ve never heard any number associated with that claim.
