    Let me explain 1 more time. The growth is what is being cut. The money that was the stimulus is no longer in play. You know that green job payout scheme the stimulus?

    “But the food-stamp program is now set to downsize in the weeks ahead. There’s a big automatic cut scheduled for Nov. 1, as a temporary boost from the 2009 stimulus bill expires. That change will trim about $5 billion from federal food-stamp spending over the coming year”

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2013/10/28/food-stamps-will-get-cut-by-5-billion-this-week-and-more-cuts-could-follow/

    Next up Obama not only soured the economy forcing millions onto food stamps but he changed the rules. The rules that helped Clinton and the Republican Congress help people get OFF food stamps. The Republicans in the house have threatened to make it again, not only harder to just get it but easier to get off of the government hand out.

    Hold on – is this comparing the suffering in the Philippines, to people HERE, who are deprived of their safety hammock? That’s kinda sick.

    While I agree that the Filipinos who are living in instant devastation are not a fair comparison to food stamp recipients…..we must remember that there are a fair number of politicians who were, and still are, unwilling to help Americans after disasters: Katrina and Sandy were prime examples of “if it isn’t happening in my district, screw ‘em; we don’t have the money”.

    Fortunately that is not (yet) the majority opinion.

    It appears as if the poster, “raycity”, has presented the ultimate Teabaghead/Republican Party’s solution to all today’s problems in and of American economics.
    ^
    This, of course, is the plan for all those still trying to survive in Saint Ronnie the Raygun’s world of p*** down on the lower classes today.
    ^
    Then of course, we have the rest of the program, for those who might be, or become, disabled or have serious illness: “If you can’t afford to PAY – at highest costs possible – DIE OFF and get the hell out of the way.”
    ^
    THANK YOU, “raycity”, for your adherance to truth in politics.

    @Debt Free

    Poor wal-mart. Wow…Talk about victims! How much of your tax money goes to subsidize wal-mart’s sweet land permits, road construction deals, and local tax exemptions?

    The food stamp program is actually very cost-effective. For every dollar that goes out, approximately $1.75 is recirculated into the economy because people in poverty spend it right away. Unlike tax cuts for the rich, who take the money they get and hoard it oversees.

    So, are you suggesting that the Food Stamp program generates a net positive income, that is it makes money?!

    @Genome Project

    Yet you bemoaned it as a tax hike when the temporary FICA payroll deduction holiday was lifted."
    I will argue over any IRS income tax! That is MY MONEY! I WORKED for that money! I got PAID! the IRS takes the money. ANY REduction in how much they TAKE from me is a good thing! I am a FAIR TAX supporter! Why is it temporary hand out programs are the liberals crying points, yet money taken straight from you, oh we were just letting you keep part of it for a limited time.

    wow a Nancy P excuse. But you forgot to factor out the red tape, the money it takes for government to tax it, calculate how much to take, take it from someone, then pass it back out to someone they deem “needy” .
    i put to you that it wipes out any gain of .75 cents on the dollar taken out of my pocket!

    @sdut sucks

    Further more you 1.75 cents put back into the economy, you 1st have to take 1$ from me. I say I will spend that money far more wisely than the politician. The FAIR TAX allows me to keep 100% of my paycheck. I decided where to spend the money to “recirculated into the economy” and in doing so I do not have the over head it takes to redistribute the wealth the government has.

    @David

    Each $1 of Government spending increases GDP by $1.75 by trickle down spending"
    If you are talking on a Fed scale then you must factor in 40% borrowed from China!
