ypoons7666, I think you are correct about “all Conservatives are not Republicans, and that all Republicans are not Conservatives”. However, if you don’t like what Luckovich’s cartoon says, or how it says it, why not simply say so? You might have better effect by pointing out the flaws in his message, than in accusing him of having a “hateful streak”.

As slanted as your observations are, I’m kinda’ surprised that you even read Mike Luckovich.
For instance, I NEVER read Mallard Fillmore – it makes my blood pressure too high

Gerrymandering has created situations like Pennsylvania’s. Obama won 52 percent of the 2012 vote state-wide but the House delegation has 13 Republicans and 5 Democrats. How’s that working out for the Country? How’s about non-partisan commissions draw up the voting districts, eh? Isn’t it about time democracy meant what the Constitution says?

@ wmconelly: Democrats oppose non-partisan commissions in states which they control; Califorrnia, Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, etc. They are masters at gerrymandering.

That is on difference between libs and conservatives. Libs don’t read anything they don’t agree with. The words “narrow minded” seem to fit libs.

I’m more than happy to read a post that disagrees with my opinion as long as it’s a well reasoned post. Unfortunately, it’s all too often little more than empty talking points heavy on name calling and light on fact and reason.

I just keep laughing when Republicans complain about someone on “welfare” getting $260 a month, when corporate CEOs or “board members”, are often raking in Government subsidized bonuses of up to $200,000 an HOUR!

Thank you for a polite and reasoned response.

I have to admit a degree of agreement with you. That being said, it is in the nature of cartooning to portray things in simplistic terms. The medium doesn’t lend itself to elaboration.

As for divisive, inaccurate, and offensive, the tone of many of the cartoons to be found on sites like this could be described that way.

As for the comments made by many of the posters, good heavens! It out to be beneath us. I prefer thoughtful dialogue. Some healing and helpful ideas might occur to us.

In the showdown over the shutdown of the U.S. government
    .
So you copy and paste your page-long right-wing talk-point word salad in other posts, too?
    .
You actually believe it’s an ok thing to cherry-pick just those departments and agencies favored by one political party? And that (otherwise), it’s perfectly acceptable to harm the country?
    .
Ok, those were rhetorical questions – the answer is yes. What is even more incredible is that you actually believe the Republican lie that it’s the Democrats fault. The illogic is breathless.

What’s the Democrat’s strategy to win this?

Plan A: Boehner backs down & the CR bill passes the House with bipartisan support.

Plan B: Wait for the Tea Party to realize that they aren’t going to set back the ACA (which is happening), & wait for them to figure out more reasonable demands (looks like it will take a while).
