Too many jokes about the Protector of Pedophiles Emeritus, let’s wait until he actually does something moral, like cleaning up his wicked, evil church.

If you want the Democrats to do something quickly, then ask the
Republicans to get out of their way.

Am I to have the opinion that the Democratic Party is wicked and evil because Bob Menendez had sex with underage girls? Or that the Republican Party is abominable and beastly because Arnold Schwarzenegger had an extramarital affair and fathered an illegitimate child? Of course not! The organization only becomes scandalous when it promotes such activities. Otherwise, it is individual conduct.

It is a shame that a few bad apples not only spoil the batch but they also give curmudgeons something ese to dislike. IMO, those who complain ad protest to much have something to hide. Ala Hamlet.

Are you aware that it was almost standard operating procedure for the pedophile priests to simply be moved around the countries they “served” in. There was no accountability demanded by any member of the church hierarchy. To label this pope as part of the problem may be correct, but we do not know that yet. However Omnius’ point was correct if inflammatory. Let’s stop poking fun and making jokes at the new pontiff’s expense until we see if he really changes anything. My vote is he won’t be able to, regardless of how badly he may want to.

Yeah, I’m aware of their “reassignment” practices. Kind of like taking the dirt out from under one rug and hiding it under another.

You may be right about them cleaning up their act.. I think they put a guy in charge of the Vatican bank to clean up their banking practices (money laundering, etc). I heard that he actually tried but had limited success. They just need to keep chipping away at their past practices and replace them with something more honorable.

There is abuse and immoral behavior among individuals in every organization. But when the hierarchy puts greater importance on protecting itself and covering up the perpatrators than it does in finding justice for the victims, than the organization as a whole is liable for the actions of some of its members.
There is clear evidence that officials higher up covered up for those suspected of wrong doing.
All one has to do is look at what happened in Boston, Los Angeles, and Ireland. The reluctance of the Vatican to make public the files it has priests accused of abuse.

“Way to be the typical liberal, ghostly-”Oh but look at so and so instead…" " -Howgozit @ Steve Kelley
“Boy-you want him to do something quickly. How come not the democrats and our economy, Omni?” -Howgozit one comic later.
I don’t suppose you even see the hypocrisy, do you?

Yeah! After all, it only took the Vatican 500 years to acknowledge that the Earth orbits the Sun.

Howie…. You’re the one that put the “quickly” spin on the comment. Go back an re-read what Omnius posted:

“Too many jokes about the Protector of Pedophiles Emeritus, let’s wait until he actually does something moral, like cleaning up his wicked, evil church.”

“…lets’ wait…” didja miss that part????

I’ve been on the streets of Rome and I would not drive them. If he’s willing to do that then pushing reforms through will be no issue
