Olympics: FAIL. Gotta get rid of a long-iconic Olympic sport for Golf? Seriously? Personally, I agree with a buddy that it shouldn’t be an Olympic sport unless there is a reasonable chance for advanced bodily injury. Badminton, Golf and Synchronized Swimming should all go the way of the dinosaur.

The “Olympics” lost all relevancy when Professional athletes were allowed to participate.

    HERESY!
The Olympics should be run as their Founding Fathers intended.
All athletes should compete in the nude.

The IOC idiots are ruining the Olympics by including some real garbage disguised as sports while dumping the most classic of all Olympic sports – wrestling. It was refreshing to see real wrestling instead of that fake pro crap.

Good cartoon. (Unintended pun on Olympic Beer)
    Wrestling should be preserved.
If this “evolution” continues, one can imagine Olympic Video Games.

There you go! That’s gifted foresight. An’ a likely outcome.

Our species has ceased to be content with the natural pace of evolution as established by God and nature…Now evolution is politically mandated – with the mantra of political correctness being the ever-present standard by which all is judged…and the outcome is generally both disappointing and destructive.

Man is not evolving – but DEvolving and regressing back to a less civilized state with self being the primary and overriding concern in all things…We are stepping back from God, from education, from peaceful coexistance with our own species, and from the peaceful advancement of our species for the good of all…It seems that it is now “All for one (me!) an’ Screw You!”

Sad, isn’t it? – how we think we are going forward when in reality we are continually going backward?

Time to make all those events halt. The money spent every 4 years for these damned olympics is a crime. Put up 2 places and hold them in the same places.

Why the “Hook’em” sign? Is he making fun of the great University of Texas? Should be an Aggie after our great governor.

Keep wrestling, and yes, eliminate the “pros” from competing, in any events. BTW, when our school system cancelled funding for wrestling, cross-country, and skiing, we formed a parents group to fund those three sports, all three now in the Olympics. However, being the US, the school board DID fund football, and took money from education, not just the three sports we funded as parents, to fund the football program.

It is a shame that commercialism is taking away the true Olympic spirit.

I still enjoy the young gifted athletes who surprise everyone by winning, and those who enjoy just being there regardless of their final results.

Here’s what I would pay to see: when some idiotic sports talking head asks a silver-medal-winner, “Aren’t you disappointed you didn’t win the gold?”

The athlete should answer: “Today, I proved I’m the second-best, out of seven billion, at what I do. Can you say that?”

That would be an Olympic moment frozen in time.
