I thought Romney did very well. Give credit where it’s due.

If EVER a editorial cartoonist showed his allegiance to party line dogma in the face of clear and convincing evidence to the contrary (not to mention overwhelming public opinion), THIS is it…

LOL – just saw today’s Varvel right after this one… perhaps it seems Clint’s speech was more spot on with fact than the rambling remarks of an old man.

I don’t understand why Obama didn’t bring up the fact that Romney’s plan would be impossible without one of his top secret loopholes being the mortgage interest deduction.
    .
Obama acted like he didn’t want to be there.

Such spinning from poor Mikey. Why can’t he just admit that Obama didn’t even show up, unless this backhanded comic sort of admits this. B.O. expected Jim Lehrer to give him a hand, he was ALL ON HIS OWN last night, and he was totally unprepared. He was so desperate and flailing, it was even a little uncomfortable watching him looking so pathetic.

The only thing Mitt said that I believe was that he would take a meat ax to PBS and destroy it. No wonder he rudely walked all over Jim Lehere.

Jim Lehrer came across as fawning and as if he had no control. Mitt ran rings around Lehrer. Obama was too polite to do the same.

Too harsh! Obama didn’t win, I agree, but desperate and flailing? No way.

My tax plan is… (furiously shakes the etch-a-sketch) … right here!

Luckovich has it right, and watching Mitt being “presidential”, made me think of one character in particular: Eric Cartman.

two restaurants next to each other, one says i’ll give you an 8 oz t-bone and a 6 oz lobster tail including salad for $15

the other restaurant says we’ll give you an equal size piece of beef and an equal quantity of shellfish and we also serve salad for a better price of $14.99

“my mind is already made up to vote Democratic.”
    .
That is an Important point: the polls have not moved in either direction all summer log. Obama got a bump after the convention, but not a big one. If you read Nate Silvers blog on the polls and polling he tells a story of a voting public that has largely already made up their minds and the undecided making up fewer than 5% of “likely” voters. It is a time worn fact that republican turnout is consistently higher in all elections, so you are not going to see much of a net increase there except from the undecided. Any increase in voters will come from those who fall into the “registered, but not likely voters” and they generally do not vote republican, they vote only when enthused, which is a back handed way of saying that i Obama can inspire them to go to the polls he will get their vote. This debate will not help Obama on that score, but for those of us that have already made up our minds nothing willard lies to us about is going to change our minds.
