Compare the Cuban regime, with whom we haven’t traded for more than fifty years, and the Chinese regime, with whom we have traded furiously for decades.
China is still disgustingly anti-human rights, but it’s not nearly as bad as it was BEFORE we commenced trade. In addition, Cuba was never, ever as bad as China was at its worst.
I can’t imagine any ordinary Cuban citizen envies the human rights available to the ordinary Chinese citizen and I can’t imagine any ordinary Chinese citizen NOT envying the human rights accorded citizens in Cuba.
Bringing Cuba into the fold so that it can benefit economically is a great, effective step to more liberty for all Cubans. Not to see that is willful blindness, i.e., stupidity.
Lester is both myopic and blinkered.
