    What on earth would voting for ANY particular party have to do with the kind of situation that occurred here??

    I think you’ll find that most of the KKK switched over to the Republican Party along with the Dixiecrats shortly after the Democrats dared to pass civil rights legislation back in the 1960s.

    The GOP leans far too heavily on being the Party of Lincoln, leading voters of color to ask “what have you done for us lately?” Vote for the party of empty promises, or the one that seems to actively hate you?

    Or vote Democrat, the party that keeps you enslaved by the government.
    Lincoln didn’t free the slaves; he transferred their ownership to the federal government.

    What’s that you were lying?

    The only party to filibuster the Civil Right’s Act were Democrats. One of your obvious heroes, Strom Thurmond, filibustered the first version, and his buddy Robert Byrd filibustered the second. I don’t see any Republican names attached to a filibuster for the CRA.

    Yeah. It would make so much more sense to vote for the white guys with sniper rifles and grenade launchers.

    Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results- Albert Einstein.

    Yep, that about sums it up for this toon and for a lot of the low information voters that continue to vote democrat.

    The democrat party of broken promises is the one that keeps saying the other party hates anyone,not the republicans .A common democrat tactic.Tell a whopping lie then the republicans are on the defensive over a whopping lie.The Dems have addmiotted as much but the LWNJ news nerds don’t report things like that except when no one is wacthing or listening at o-dark-30 or on the back page in small print.Kind of like “If you like your plan you can keep your plan” Or “The average family will save $2500 a year in insurance premiums”.Or blaming the republicans for the government shutdown when Harry Reid refused to let the senate vote on the house bills multiple times.Or that Michael Brown was shot in the back while running away.But not according to the autopsy. The youtube video says other wise too.
    Assaulting a police officer often leads to lead poisoning.

    @Wraithkin

    and @ DaSharkie. SKJAM and PianoGuy:

    It is amusing that when a liberal brings up anything that GWB did, conservatives shout that that is ancient history, and shouldn’t be considered. Yet, these same people try to make historical points about Democrats that occurred 50 years ago.

    Neither party is the same as it was in the 1960s; to say otherwise is foolish. And most of those legislators you use as examples are either out of office, dead, or both.

    Sad that only 5% of an entire race can break away from the Democrat crutch.

    democrats filibustered johnson’s civil rights legislation in the ’60’s. all legislation needed republican support to pass. get your facts straight.

    Doesn’t she know that she should vote Republican so that she can be punished how she deserves? I mean, what is with these people “voting their interests”?!

    @I Play One On TV

    Excuse you? That’s a false equivalency. There is a difference between “Blame Bush” defenses (because that’s what Obama did for his entire first term) which we pick apart, and the fact that I pull out historically factual data to refute a (false) claim that it was the Democrats who pushed for the CRA. It was actually the Democrats who opposed it, as evidence by my link and by voting records.

    That is not to say I’m in disagreement with you over the parties being different from back then, but don’t try to discredit my arguments that Obama should take ownership of the (insert issue here) as the same as someone lying to make a political point.
