…and this is the most transparent administration ever, and there is not a smidgen of corruption in the IRS, and on and on.

Obama has spouted ultra-leftwing nonsense from day one of his 2008 campaign, and if our elections are not rigged by the DNC, the majority of voters bought it.
    -
The problem now is, after seeing the “transformation” O promised, the replacing our original Founders’ creeds and policies with blatant socialistic creeds and policies, how is it possible that the MSM and a large % of poll takers apparently are still buying it???

Actually the statement is completely true.
It puts things into perspective though. If today is ‘good’, then holy crap the past was bad.
    .
Now we have a few ‘hot spots’ on the planet with stuff like this going on. In the past, it was going on everywhere.

Sorry… just stating published facts rather than an uninformed opinion.
Watching the news makes it seem like things are getting worse… but that is an illusion resulting from the media reporting on stuff like this more than they did in the past.
    .
The “Human Security Report” published back in 2010:
“compiles statistics of conflicts (more than 25 deaths annually) and wars (more than 1,000) around the world. It also analyzes why violent conflicts start and how they end.
The upshot is that, over the course of the past five decades, conflicts have become less frequent, less lethal and more likely to be resolved. In the 1950s, for example, the average international conflict killed 21,000 people annually. In the new millennium, that figure is less than 3,000.”

And that’s just the last 50 years. Go back further and things get way worse. In WWII over 40 million civilians were killed. State sanctioned violence was worse all over the world too. Take slavery for example, or religious persecution during the Spanish Inquisition as examples.

Now here’s the funny thing. “In God We Trust” doesn’t mean your God.

Don’t know who wrote this human security report but millions have died in the last two decades from Islamic violence. IEDs direct attacks, africa.

Even if that is true, it shows a belief, and the founding fathers did as well. What God do you think they meant. So when you say “doesn’t mean your God” you made 2 assumptions, you know my beliefs and the founding fathers. So how do you know what you’re talking about.

You are correct. Islamic violence has had a large death toll. I am not arguing that things aren’t bad now. I’m suggesting that it was worse in the past.
    .
It is all over the news the last couple decades, but that’s just because the USA has been involved in the last couple decades. Iraq and Iran were in a state of non-stop bloody war for pretty much all of the 1980s… but you didn’t hear that in the news unless you listened to NPR.
    .
In the 70’s the Lebanese Civil War started (and continued for 15 years)
In the 60’s North Yemen had an eight year civil war
The 50’s had the Jebel Akhdar War…
    Did we hear about those?
    .
There were over 60 wars, uprising, insurgencies… etc in the Middle East during the 1900s. That’s over 6 per decade. Conflict in the Middle East is nothing new.

All this blather over statistics ignores reality. Islamic extremists hate us and don’t mind killing. I’d be interested in your take on the stats after they kill your wife & kids. So far, have any of you seen a million Muslim man/women march against the violence? Where are the moderate Muslims?

  14. Aliquid

Aliquid said, over 2 years ago

    @dzw3030

The stats don’t change no matter who gets killed. The thing is, if you want to solve a problem, you have to understand the problem. Spouting ignorance about the problem doesn’t help.

“The world is a more violent place than in the past” – FALSE
“America is more threatened by world violence than in the past” – TRUE

Understand the problem and then address the problem.

There are moderates in that part of the world. That’s what the Arabic Spring was all about.

Don’t forget that Ronald Reagan worked closely with Iran, negotiating with terrorists. And everyone knows he was the best president that ever lived.
