The Dems participated in the Sequester ‘deal’ absolutely. And the Fox Ramirez News con of asking other people to accurately unpick THEIR latest doodle or half-factsed assertion, whilst they go off constructing something just as or more outrageous, is a grand-fun game to play in the papers. It’s got zero to do with actual governance, however; it happily guarantees further RepubliCon shrinkage next election.

I am truly astounded by how the Republicans refuse meaningful cuts, just so the sequestration THEY voted for in Congress will be instituted, just so THEY can blame Obama for having “suggested it” in the first place.
And screw the American public, as long as THEY improve their chances in the next election.
THESE are the type of people you Rednecks send to Washington?

Boehner and Republicans threw it, even took credit for it when it passed, and now claim THEIR “IED” was planted by the administration. It’s what makes it so funny (and sad) that the likes of our “righties” here always claim Obama lies.

Chillbilly – saying it over-and-over might make you all face reality (slim hope):
then-White House budget director Jack Lew and legislative liaison Rob Nabors hatched the idea of a trigger – a delayed-onset package that would ostensibly force Congress to reach an agreement on the budget – during the height of dramatic negotiations on raising the federal debt ceiling during the summer of 2011. President Obama signed off on the proposal, and the result of the debt ceiling negotiations – the 2011 Budget Control Act – created a congressional “Super Committee” to reach an agreement on deficit reduction and included the spending cuts in the sequester as a fallback if the committee failed.
SO – Obama & his folks wanted to kick the can down the road until after elections. Done.
How is this NOT Obama’s doing?
All he has to do is compromise – he’s gotten 2 tax increases and given no spending cuts.
Please explain your rationale.

@DrCanuck
What meaningful cuts are you referring to?
Cutting the after-tax income of folks who work for a living?
Has Obama offered any spending cuts – or just 3.5 Trillion more in deficit spending?

@dtroutma
dtroutma – you should read the news more, not NPR. The delay was the best deal that Obama was willing to give. Then in January he changed the deal.
He’s gotten to 2 tax increases – and given in return? Nothing but smug phrases.

Hey Mike, we have to do something and this way, both parties can blame the other. Works for me.

Barack Obama cannot be trusted in negotiation.
.
He is not a man who keeps his promises. That is not honorable.
