If you want to compare vacation days taken, check out the link.
I do agree with your first sentence in spirit. Maybe Ben Afleck can do a movie in Pakistan and bring the guy back.

Maybe we can trade the youtube video guy for the doctor?
It’s probably isn’t legal, but it feels like justice.

I’m against abusive/mean speech, but recognize that if I want to speak freely, I have to tolerate it in others, even those who lie to me, and about me.
Why would you think it’s nice for me to admit to something like being against free speech? Do you have issues with that freedom?

Wait a minute! On the Steve Benson strip today you guys were arguing that waterboarding guys captured 10 years ago got Bin Laden, now you’re saying we need to free the single informant who TOLD US WILLINGLY where he was? Which is it?

“…Maybe we can trade the youtube video guy for the doctor?” The Pakis do not want to trade. They want revenge for 1. US catching bin laden on their soil and 2. Not getting a chance to screw-up the mission.

No fuzzy thinking there neighbor. We haven’t had an ally of the quality of Pakistan since we allied with Stalin in WW2. Our need to use Pakistan in order to be effective in Afghanistan is the biggest reason for us to leave the area.
thanks for the reply, it was accurate and succinct.

I’m confused. I was ruefully and facetiously suggesting we offer to trade the man who offended so many Muslims and unintentionally gave a window of opportunity to terrorists in Libya, to the Pakistanis in exchange for the Doctor who assisted us. Fuzzy Thinker points out two reasons why that won’t happen, I can think of some more, but your comment mentions Bill Marh. Do you mean Bill Maher from HBO? And why does it seem to upset you that the director of the video I reference is getting death threats? People get death threats for much less volatile actions.
Take care Harley. Say hi to Mr. J for me, and don’t get too serious. ;)

" A guy who was using his 1st Adm rights to say what he wanted to say. "
You DO realize that the First Amendment has absolutely nothing to do with the filmmaker’s ability to insult somebody else’s religion, but it DOES protect you when you insult members of the U.S. Government.

    1. We don’t write Pakistan’s laws. 2. Who knows what might be going on outside the public eye for the guy? (certainly not Ramirez) 3. Where’s the right-wing cry to free Bradley Manning? 4. Did we write the laws Asange is being pursued under? 5. Why isn’t Cheney in the Hague? (with many others from his administration who violated OUR laws, as well as international law, and the Geneva Convention treaties we signed.)

“Justice” did catch up with bin Laden. Hmm, remember a guy named Eichmann, kidnapped from South America, “tried”, executed, and his ashes dumped in the Mediterranean?

As things go, I often have to observe, and wonder, who DOES regard themselves as above the law, while selectively choosing which to ignore. How often is “justice”, just revenge.

Hey Harley…Kinda serious there, but a good reply.
i did get some of that confused. I’ll blame pain meds and whimper a little. ;) j/k.
I said I was being facetious when I made that comment about the video producer. And the charges weren’t trumped up. He had been ordered to not use the internet for any purposes due to a previous crime using the internet. It might be frivolous, but it game them all they needed.
If we could rescue that Doctor, a man who has been punished for being a good friend to the USA, I would like to see it done.
The Doctor was, in CIA lingo, an asset. He was one of several knots in the rope that Obama ordered placed around bin Laden’s neck. If Biden and some others had had their way, the compound would have been vaporized. Obama decided too much collatoral damage risk and we wont know if we got bin Laden. A third option was a strange little rocket fired from a drone with the ability to home in on an individual target. Once again tho…no guarantee we could identify him. The second option was SEAL team 6. The director of those units told the president they could do it, they did it nighlty all over the world. Obama trusted him. One of the planners of the Iran raid that failed under Jimmy Carter was present. He was against it as well, but his jr officers came back and convinced him this could happen.
Obama didn’t kill bin laden, he just told his SEAL commander the mission was a go.
If the SEALS are the bullet, and the commander is the gun, then Obama did pull the trigger. It would not have happened if he hadn’t given the permission and the order. The willingness to protect the withdrawing SEALS with Air Force assets waiting on the Afghan side of the border was just further commitment he gave this mission.
Bill Maher is, to me, a very funny guy. He’s also a self righteous atheistic jerk who seems to be a legend in his own mind. I still love the dialogue and guests he brings on his show. I haven’t been able to watch an entire stand up routine or Religioulous because he is, quite frankly, much meaner than he has to be. Just my opinion, but sometimes I get too serious too.
BTW, Bill’s movie didn’t get the Muslim response because he didn’t depict Mohammed as a philandering bisexual or whatever it was. He was just rude to people of many faiths..
