"Editorial cartoons should be smart and substantive, provocative and informative. They should stir passions and deep emotions. Editorial cartoons should be the catalyst for thought, and frankly speaking, if you can make politicians think, that is an accomplishment in itself."

Ramriez: In my opinion, this is a disgusting cartoon. And it is not the commentary I find so objectionable, it is the image itself. Boo.

The scar is caused by surgery necessitated by the cancer inside which came from the current system of non-health care.

RV, I’m sure NeoCon will be pleased!

The scar is from the gutted tax payer.

^So we all should get a free lunch? Free police, emergency responders, education, etc., etc.? I’m getting a bit sick of the whining from the Right about their taxes, but I haven’t seen them offering to pay as they go for the communal services that our governments supply.

Really? We have federal police patrolling all our cities? And all our firefighters and paramedics are federal, too?
The Constitution specifically enumerated what the federal government was allowed to do.
Everything else was clearly stated in both the 9th and 10th Amendments as belonging solely to the People, and to the States.
Shallow thinking bores me to tears, lefties…
And the Demoncrat Party gets away with acting as if at least 85% of our written Constitution doesn’t even EXIST.

No, that’s what Bush and Cheney did until the Supreme Court finally slapped ‘em down 8 to 1.

This is a cartoon copy of LBJ showing off his surgery scar from, I think, a gall bladder operation.
(Jeez, ask a Canadian about American history….)
What the cartoon means, however, is quite beyond me.

Socialism is a scar upon the body politic. It is evil incarnate because it gives the resources of a country to the people of the country rather than to the investor class who had fairly and justly manipulated the markets.

What might you be talking about?

Don’t try to improve upon Karl Marx - its perfect.

i just find it distasteful whether or not it’s a visual allusion to LBJ’s famous surgery show and tell.

I bet Ramirez’s scar says “F*(% you! I got mine!”

BCS, it is definitely alluding to LBJ’s scar and that very distasteful and strange moment when the psychopath lifted his shirt to show the world. Then the cartoonist David Levine captured it forever in his penned depiction which Ramirez is copying here.

It’s not so much a scar as an infection.
