The problem is, Bush and Cheney never really defined the “mission”. If it was simply to survive and get our a** out, we’re about 4500 men and women short on the exit strategy.

    What mission?

Making money hand over fist for Bush’s business buddies?

    Yup. THAT mission is accomplished.

Making oil revenue safe for the oil companies?

Yup. THAT mission is accomplished also.

Lying to Americans so they will support our war?

    THAT mission definitely got accomplished.

    Supporting the military/industrial complex?

    MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, SIR!!

Yeah, we accomplished a lot of missions and they were all wrong.

I know and am related to many soldiers and Marines who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, some on multiple tours, and they are proud of what they’ve accomplished over there and made friends with many of the locals. Of course, what they tell me seems to never coincide with what the liberal media, or a bunch of fat, lazy welfare parasites on here say, but then I guess they are all lying to me, because I’m sure you ultra-liberal America haters are all so honest and I’ve got to believe CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC, because they are always showing how unbiased they are!

Thank you to all our military and those of our allies, who go around the world putting their lives on the line- and doing so as volunteers, not draftees- to help bring freedom to others. Of course, I’m sure the lord Obamessiah will have this post removed because talking of freedom in other countries can make their “Supreme Leaders” upset!

With all the hate hovering in the air here I’ll just mention one item. Oil revenues in Iraq are not safe. The government, even with U.S. assistence has not been able to achieve pre-war levels. In addition, the recent oil production auction was a dismal failure. Only the most secure field sold and that was a reluictant purchase by BP. They wanted a better deal but decided to go with the ministry offer anyway.
All other items were off by a power of 10 from the oil ministries dreams.

Yeah, No American oil company has made a dime from Iraqi

oil. The mission accomplilished is turning over a more secure situation to the Iraqis…to do with as they see fit. Iranian style, civil war, new strong man? Force Protection is the mantra now. That is hard to do. There will still be US casualties even when not engaged in combat operations. Just like the last days in ‘Nam

Nancy- I’m a 100% disabled ‘Nam vet. My son has been in Iraq and elsewhere, is getting out after 11 years with disabilities, still getting rated-post surgeries to see where he ends up on function.(likely also 100%) I’m getting really tired of folks willing to send our kids off to the “wrong” wars whining that our experience with reality, and it’s effects, always calling wisdom “liberal”. Hmm wait a minute, wisdom, and rational thought when faced with facts, IS “liberal”.

P.S. I also love my country, fought for it, as has my son. My friends, and his, died for it. We don’t hate America, just those willing to rape it of all it’s valuables, including resources and human lives, while they count their booty and wave their flags, from the doors of their bunkers.

Nancy – good buddy of mine was in Iraq and saw it as the clusterfudge that it is/was. We’re getting ripped off colossally by the contractors, the Iraqis don’t really like us and we’ve broken the country, possibly beyond repair.

Eddie and I don’t agree on everything, but we’re tight on this one. Who could have foreseen (so to speak) that the oil revenue wouldn’t come to US companies?

dtroutma – We knock heads together, but thank you for being willing to serve. There ARE bad guys out there and we do need a good standing military with the best equipment to keep them at bay.

Like you, I am appalled at the wrong headed wars we have chosen to get ourselves involved in
