    Oh, give me a break! Ramirez is so off base on this that it isn’t even worth a reply. Did he even read the whole speech? I did, but it looks as if the right wingnuts didn’t.

    It seems to me he is saying the Acorn American idol crowd is waking up with a Yes we can, hope, change hang over.
    Talk about wanting to knaw your arm off to get out of the bed.

    well drawn, utterly ridiculous toon ….

    apparently speaking with honesty and thoughtfulness is not the macho, American way of talking to others, according to Limblahblah, Beck, Hannity and Ramriez

    Methinks Ramirez hasn’t been reading the poll results.

    I like Ramirez’ work but I wonder if he has a new employer? I didn’t know Faux News even had an editorial cartoonist. He was and continues to be provocative tho…

    fennec: The comment is not based upon a single speech but rather a totality of 0bama’s recent speeches overseas, and they all had apologetic, humbling tone, and they were so perceived by the overseas crowd.
    That is particularly troubling in absence of highlighting the good that America has done - as for example, complete absence of any mention of Americans’ having died in deface of Muslims …

    Mike, I am so sorry that your feelings got hurt. We didn’t really mean it. Please don’t get down on your self. In another seven years you can hide behind false pretenses again when we invade another and out another CIA agent.

    Limbaugh had rectal problems that kept him out of the military. His head still seems stuck, on old themes, so to speak? For all those “religious” folks out there, name one that lists arrogance as a virtue.

    anyone who does not understand WHY apologies are necessary is a mouth breathing knuckle dragging moron. Even Darth Cheney has admitted Saddam had NOTHING to do woth 9-11, yet he lies us into invading a sovereign nation. The comments applauding this cartoon have been made by the 20% of Americans still self identifying as republicans … and in case you do not know - out of that 20% ….80% of you are white males. Enjoy your new leader El-rushbo.

    No, this is not the apology tour- it is the let us reason together- tour. And most citizens think it is a good tour.

    I have to applaud Michael. This cartoon has gotten the ire of all the dowdy leftists - the blame America fist crowd.

    I can only hope that after the next (unfortunate and inevitable) terrorist attack you people will see that all of the feel good speeches really weren’t worth a “darn”. But I doubt it.

    Maybe there wouldn’t have to be a “world apology tour” if the United States had kept it’s nose out of other countries business for the last 60 years.

    I didn’t know there was a “blame America fist” crowd. I don’t have any problems with an American fist. Unless it’s being brought down on smaller countries for no good purpose.

    Oh, and about other attacks… Maybe it would have helped if we had gone after the country that provided the 9/11 attackers. That was NOT Iraq which talked with attitude but was no threat to us at all (and we knew it).

    Personally, based on our history of intervention (much longer than 60 years – just check out Woodrow Wilson’s record), is something that requires earnest examination and honest apology. That’s something we Americans don’t like to do, however. Never admit that you’ve done wrong!

    One quality of Obama’s that piqued my interest as he began his campaign, was his clarity about establishing healthy global relationships - to meet face to face with unfriendly as well as friendly national leaders. It’s heartening to see him keep his promise amid the filth that the GOP continues to try to engender. The US has had blood on its administrative hands and a smirk on its national face for a decade - more. Obama has yet to actually apologize. His diplomacy is spotless. I’m a little disappointed in Ramirez, who has been one of my standards, for falling into the mire.

    The world would be an Eden, were it not for America!!!

  20. cdward

    cdward said, 5 months ago

    petergrt, I’m glad you are apologizing, but for an apology to be meaningful, it needs to be specific. A generic apology is no apology at all. So please let us know what the sins are for which you apologize.

    Ramirez needs to read the words at the base of that statue. We finally have someone who gives America reason for pride. Bush LOST the first election by a substantial amount in the popular vote. Our embarrassment came when he got his second term. It is NOT our nation that needs to apologize, but those who betrayed it, us, and the world at large, for profit.

    ANandy replies: The world celebrated the anniversary the Sixth of the US’ major role in ridding France of a tyrant, one who didn’t attack the US but one who attacked his neighbors and threatened peace in a major area of the world. The US did the same for the same reason in Iraq. Unless oBozO blows it, the anniversary of our victory in Iraq will be celebrated by freedom loving people worldwide years from now.
    dtroutma, suppose you put your tail between your legs and crawl back into your doghouse. Shame, shame. Bad Dog!

    It seems that my sarcasm is beyond your level …, but I’ll bite.

    US is by no means perfect and has indeed made a lot of errors worthy of an apology:

    1. Yalta Agreement that seeded eastern Europe to to the Soviets and into Communist bandage;

    2. Idiotically ‘fighting’ Vietnam war, not to win, and in the end abandoning Southeast Asia, causing millions of lives (the Killing Fields) an untold carnage and Communist bondage;

    3. Bombing Serbia and in the end recognizing Kosovo, the former capital of Serbia, as an independent state, and thus rewarding Islamic terrorism;

    4. Initially supporting and ultimately abandoning Cuban liberation effort, leaving a bunch of patriots out to be lovingly treated by the Communist;

    5. Cuban missile crises that was ultimately used to so embarrass, the Soviets that it triggered the biggest arms race in history;

    6. Leaving Lebanon, after 280+/- US marines were killed by terrorists, and thus ceding Lebanon to Syria and the terrorists, and etc.

    But, I suspect that most posting here would find those acts worthy of accolades.

    Andy, my son was fighting in Iraq two years ago, one of our best friends was killed last year, more of our friends are still fighting “for our country” in Iraq and Afghanistan today. Please let me know when we have a “victory” to celebrate from Bush’s wars.

    My hackles are up because Bush and Cheney are both cowards, liars, and thieves– btw- this dog bites, it doesn’t turn tail and run to hide in a corner like Bush and Cheney. Okay, right Cheney growls like a sneering chihuahua - from a secure - undisclosed- location– where he can go back to lobbying and collecting his back payments from Haliburton contracts.

    I was also under the impression that Obama’s pole numbers were dropping (if you use credible news sources, not CNN, MSNBC, etc.

    Mytinytown, President Obama’s favorables are still above 60% in any poll I’ve seen. His popular resilience is reminiscent of Reagan’s. Will his numbers eventually dip? Sure. All presidents’ do. But when that happens, it will more than likely not be for his current diplomatic successes. Like it or not, our current president is improving America’s image abroad, and most people at home like what he’s doing.
