That’s all we need in this strip, a lavender marriage on top of all the other plot lines.

“Lavender marriage” — I never heard that expression. Sounds very aromatic.

This is where some of the logic of this strip gets sacrificed…. Lila DOES look in shape; she doesn’t have a belly or thighs. How does she do that without going to the gym or exercising?? What’s her secret???

Wolf Emperor, you can be skinny and not work out. Some people are just built that way. It’s called genetics. But it doesn’t mean she’s healthy! :( Also it’s called skinnyfat. She looks skinny but underneath the clothing there is fat on those thighs! ;) She needs to get healthy for that kid and set a good example. Lila would look great “buff”/strong! :)

The gay caucus in the Green Party call themselves Lavender Greens (“If I were king, dilly dilly, I’d need a queen” folk song made famous by Burl Ives).

one of the best known “lavendar marriages” was that of two well known Hollywood types…Adrian the designer and Janet Gaynor the actress…

A lavender marriage is primarily a marriage of convenience used to hide sexual orientation. There are other minor reasons.

It is a marriage between a straight and a gay or bisexual (as long as there are both sexes it doesn’t matter which is which) or two gays of opposite sexes.

The term first came to common usage in Hollywood at the time of the big studios.

Lavender is used as a descriptor because it was and maybe still is a colour supposedly preferred by gay males.

The studio bosses wanted no whiff of scandal and (so rumour has it) actually ordered some of their stars to marry so those stars’ sexual orientation could be hidden from the public; a lavender marriage. After the marriage the partners were, in theory at least, free to lead their own lives within it.
