She should have said “smart phone.” There are other choices like Android, Symbian, and Windows Phone. I use a “smart phone” to do all those things, without being tied to Apple. Of course, if JF got a royalty fee from Apple, I can forgive the shill.

For those who can’t afford touch phones (like me) and think that iPhones are for pussies (me again) and favour Androids (still me), conventional phones are still the best option.

My first phone was a Motorola RAZR V3i. It was a beautiful little thing, too.

No “butt dialing” with a flip phone. No glass covers to break. No auto-cowrecked.

Sometimes, i wonder if we are on the verge of out-clevering ourselves with all these gadgets with the all-but-useless, but flashy gizmos…

I used to be the one who fought against it… first I didn’t want a cell phone, but with kids eventually had to get one. Then I just wanted the most basic one that only made phone calls. Now I have an iPhone and love it. I use it for many useful things, however I make a point of talking with people at meals rather than playing on my phone and not picking it up whenever there’s any free time. The problem is usually the person and not the phone.

Do what Lila suggests in panels 3-4 BEFORE venturing out….it’s called research.

It is getting more and more difficult to find a phone that you can make phone calls on. I have one that I can make calls on. That’s it. If I need any of that other stuff, I can play on my computer. Or look at a map. Or ignore all the “celebrity news.”

I am with you on the subject. I have a basic cell phone. Its for emergencies when I am out on the road. And, rarely, for confirmation on what a friend needs from the store if I am already there and feel like being neighborly. My son needs his to have a camera so he can takes pic’s for his job. There is way too much celebrity news, and I read reviews of restaurants in my NEWSPAPER, play games at yahoo and mapquest a new address prior to leaving the house. I dont want or need the b.s. hype from supposedly smart phones. If the phone is smarter than its owner, perhaps its time to put the phone down and back away slowly….lol

I’m still using my StarTac phone on Verizon.

    I think I’m the only one left…

amen! My friends can’t believe that my cell phone doesn’t even take pictures.

I neither need nor want to be constantly connected.

A cell phone I need, the rest I don’t need because I have it at home an on a larger easy to read screen.
