NOT the girl I would have taken home to Mom.

But if I had met her in Vegas! It’s all just speculation now. An old guy like me would never ping on Lila’s radar now. Then again, I’m rather low on energy.

    Time for my warm milk.

THERE”S the Lila we all know and love!
good thing this is the comics…..she can continue to abuse herself “ad infinitum”
    with no aftereffects ….

Hi & Lois’ kids never grow up, Dennis the menace has been a menace since 1952, and the family circus clan will continue to be obnoxious well into the 21st century…

its a shame, by the by , that Lia is not up there with them, this strip is SO under appreciated by the syndicates….if it werent for gocomics, I never would have heard of it…..

Hi Nighthawks! Thanks for your kind words. Yes, Lila is definitely struggling to be in the newspapers. The Religious Right are very outspoken when Lila actually gets in a newspaper. Which is ironic, because Lila goes to church on Sundays! No, I do not have a book of strips and nothing is in the works. I’m so busy with my full-time job and just keeping up with Lila, that I haven’t had any time to think about a book. Thanks for asking!

I once went to a bar wearing only my underwear*, and let me tell you, it made a big change in my life.

For one thing, I was promptly arrested.

    *not actually true

Going to church services often won’t make a person have higher moral standards.

Neither will preaching against homosexuals make a closeted homosexual minister a heterosexual. Just look at the Ted Haggard scandal.

But, did Boyd get any phone numbers from any of the gay or bisexual men at the party?

There are derogatory names for gay men who hang around straight women and straight women who hang around gay men.

Complaints from conservatives are ironic; this strip doesn’t glorify the life Lila leads. Quite the opposite. She serves as a wonderful example of how not to live your life.

She doesn’t endlessly party with no consquences. She drinks because she’s unhappy about her life, and suffers for it the next day. Her shallowness generally keeps her from forming real personal relationships.

She’s a mess and she knows it… and the strip makes it obvious how unhappy she is because of her personality flaws.

This strip has a message: don’t live your life this way.

I could make a good arguement that this strip has a stronger positive message than “Family Circus”, which seems to have no theme other than it’s great to be a white middle-class protestant.
