There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept his money in a bucket
    The man lived in Mass
So he paid taxes up the a$$
As far as the money and the bucket… The Man tuck it

“What rough beast its hour round come at last?” “Slouching toward Sequestration”? What is this, Mr. Wuerker? Are you seriously comparing Congress to the Second Coming?

I find it interesting that the far right frequently denigrates Massachusetts, citing high taxes and insinuating that blue states “take” from the red states. The truth is that for every dollar Massachusetts sends to the Federal Government they receive only 82 cents. Compare that to red states such as Mississippi ($2.02 received for every dollar sent) or Kentucky ($1.51 received for every dollar sent). These figures come from the Tax Foundation, hardly a “liberal” organization.

Perhaps you can explain where you see religious imagery in his poem. I see none.

Sequestration, yet another new concept in government invented B.H. Obama. Along with the invention of numerous new “rights” that are anything but.

Sequestration, what we are not doing with carbon by digging it up and burning it. However the brutal cuts seem to be okay with out Congress. The Democrats thought it up and Republicans agree on it. “The sharks are bipartisan,” as Keith Olbermann said years ago. How true.

The point is that, contrary to what the Tea Party says, it is not the blue states that are the “takers”. Perhaps the people in Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, and other deep red states should be grateful to Massachusetts, New York, California, and other blue states that provide so much of their aid.

Good question. Perhaps we can start by bringing import taxes back to what they were prior to 1980 when Saint Ronnie lowered them in his effort to bust unions by exporting middle-class jobs. Another would be to bring taxes on the rich back to what they were during the (Republican) Eisenhower administration. Reinstating the New Deal reforms on banking that so successfully held off economic catastrophe for some fifty years might also help. Then implement a Canadian style single-payer health system so that people won’t be bankrupted by being unlucky enough to require expensive medical treatments. And the list goes on and on……

So the Tea Party Members of Mass get to fill the EBT cards from other states as well….
