And most of what we see is just that, a show.

I still say we should have the military making Congress do their job or they should be impeached and arrested. We should not enable a few zealots to ruin this country.

I see that the whole “Defund Obamacare” thing worked out just about as well as Turtle-Boy’s objective of making Obama a one-term president!
Some people actually learn from their mistakes, but others just keep on voting Republican, never figuring it out.

I do not believe the extremists will be allowed to default on the world,
I see arrests or violence in the near future.

    The government shutdown continues apace
But soon the Tea Party will have to save face
A financial default can never be arty
And the people now know it’s de fault of de Party
The people have spoken: blackmail is a crime
A damn dirty shame and a waste of our time
Tea Party insanity? Quite clear to see
They’re all drinking Koolaid, it seems, and not tea
And now they are trapped, though lacking in thought
They’re trying to find a brand-new plot to plot
Like Christie, who opted for lap band, not trainer
The Party will blame not themselves, they’ll blame Boehner

Nice poem! And, as Time Magazine pointed out, sometimes it really is just the Republicans at fault, and you shouldn’t pretend that both parties are to blame.

I cannot believe how gullible and hateful you all are, it has taken more than one party , more than two parties to put us here. Put the responsibility where it lies , on lack of leadership. In both houses , and the half/white house. Either we hold them all responsible or we lie to ourselves and our children forever. Quit being hypocrites on both sides , take our lumps and move on. Obama is the most divisive POTUS ever , let us stand together for once and not let him conquer an entire nation!

But right now it is a minority of a party that is putting us on the brink of economic calamity. And that is all.

BTW, mskemple, did you look at the link I posted above? In it is a clip of a debate from the floor of the House in which van Hollen makes the point that the majority (i.e., Republicans) passed a modification of the House rule (22, section 4) that originally allowed any member to move to bring an amendent to a vote such that ONLY the Speaker or someone designated by the Speaker could do so. This rule modification was passed on Oct 1, 2013. A bit blatant on the part of the Republicans in their attempt to guarantee the shutdown, don’t you think?

It’s not a show…Instead, it demonstrates what a dangerous level of independence from oversight the elected elitist class has in America.

Thanks for the video and the article. Regarding the first i have to say that this “every Congress makes his own rules” thing is baaad. There should be constitutional protections against such rules-changes. On the article i have to say that – to me – these stick-insects don’t look very cuddly :-)
