But… chose to live there. And those in the military fight to keep their Alaskan residency so they keep their per-caps. Yes the remoteness of many settlements make for rustic conditions, but you chose to live there. Just as I HATE snow, I really dislike the cold but I CHOOSE to live in Northern Lower Michigan. Like Alaska it has some of the most beautiful scenery and undeveloped lands in the world. But it is cold, and receives a good deal of snow. Not as cold and not as much snow as other areas of the contiguous United States, but still. The point is, you live where you live and I live where I live because we CHOOSE to live there. I was born here, married and raised a family and started a business so I’m pretty much stuck. But you know what? I can change any or all of that and move, it is my prerogative. Maybe not enjoyable, but I do have the means and ability. I’m pretty sure you do too.

But hey! Their unemployment rate is lower than ours!

And, now we know what the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow really is!

And to think… those toxins, those low wages, those collapsing buildings could be RIGHT HERE IN AMERICA if we’d just get those job-killing regulations out of the way!

Precisely, the greatest power given any citizen of this Republic is the ability to vote with his feet.

And that’s another reason to retain the unique differences between the states.

maybe we shouldn’t send textile jobs to the third world. even though labor costs are cheap, regulations are non existent, and corruption is rife, it isn’t worth it. does wearing that new nike outfit really worth 100 dead Bangladeshi? does having zippers that costs 1 penny worth it? and, doesn’t alleviate the poverty in those countries. and, the clothes we associate as american are made in other countries. cowboy boots made in thailand, denim jeans made in china, designer purse made in bangladesh, blue baby blanket made in vietnam.

Stipple: how much was YOUR cut of Alaskan oil revenue last year, that wouldn’t have been possible if not for the federal government granting so much to Alaskans when they entered the union?? (Probably more than the average annual salary of a Bangladesh garment worker!)

Absolutely -some welfare queen in America is spending her food stamp money for those duds right now!

Yes that is why when Socialism and Capitalism are mixed they work out very well. Look at sodium and chlorine, separate and pure they are poison, but combined they give us salt. Very important to our bodies to function.

Pup unbound, there are slim to none in regard to “Welfare queens”.
The SNAP program for them most part goes for food only!
You can’t buy anything like laundry detergent, or toilet paper.
So it is nearly impossible to buy clothes.
Most people who get food stamps are the working poor.
It makes me mad when people assume that people getting help from the government (there is no actual welfare) It has been replaced by something else that gives people less.
