Want to re-do the tax code? Suppose we start with the grass roots and work up? Suppose we run national elections Aussie way: That is, everybody who’s eligible to vote, votes or pays a fine for NOT voting, meaning $50 or so. That would encourage voter turnout, REQUIRE that the eligible voter list be assembled and verified in advance, and lead to a better more functional democracy. Who wouldn’t be happy with that outcome?

Answer: the gerrymandering, poll taxing, discriminatory, money grubbing, old boy bosses who want to run local AND federal governments out of a back office at the country club.

And, of course, the Republicans and their corporate sponsors would never even dream of so profiting off of the American people in such a heinous way!!

Just make it an act of treason to accept a single private dollar while in a position of power in the government- or better still, file a separate charge of treason for EACH dollar accepted while in a position of power in the government- and the problem would be solved!

“Fair Tax” is not one. It helps the rich and hurts the poor. Graduated taxation is fair. We need it for the superich. The more you have the more you pay because the rich buy less and spend less when they have most of it.

I am against forced voting. Fines! So they run any fascist slub you get to “vote” for? Only with a negative vote so that if the negs out weigh the pos then they fail and new elections with new candidates run.

You are too limiting, nearly every politician fits that of any party. Open you eyes. Partisanship means tyranny.

You know there are not enough jobs to go around. Try and find a little compassion for those unable to find work.

Even so a million dollars held by one person is less likely to be put into the economy than a million people spending a dollar.

When you don’t have enough money how do you spend it wisely beyond buying as cheaply as possible including food.
