    Conservative pundit David Brooks pointed out that the sequester was deliberately crafted to be SO stupid that Congress would HAVE to act to counter its mindless spending cuts with intelligent spending cuts. Of course, Congress was far more imbecilic than Brooks or anybody else could have conceived of………..

    @THEVIC IOUSDOUG MARTIG

    Every representative has an evaluation every other year, but most of the voters are stupid and keep re-electing 434 incompetent, thieving SOBs.

    The only decent one among the lot is mine, and I intend to do everything I can to see that MY representative is re-elected, but why, oh why, do the other stupid voters keep re-electing those other 434 crooks?

    (Note that, as Mr Wuerker shows, it’s both Democrats and Republicans, it’s all 434 except my own.)

    Well, here where I live, (Ky.) we are saddled with Turtle-Boy, and the Twit-in-Training, so I’m gonna do whatever I can to get them both booted out on their butts!
    (B.T.W. I know you are speaking with tongue firmly in cheek! I wonder how many trolls think the same way, but for real??)

    Radish, would they also have a chart showing the % of people who think they are above average?

    Radish: on Stanford Binet: I"m 168+ (psychologists can’t “ethically” say exactly what the score is), but accurate post as most people think they’re “above average”, just like their assessment of their driving abilities, and to prove intelligence and driving abilities, they’ll text you their opinions while behind the wheel in traffic!

    Also, btw, “I.Q.” alone just says what a person may be able to read, comprehend, and learn, which obviously doesn’t come as a value for current “conservatives” in America. Note: the number of conservatives who keep looking for MORE places to go to wars, that make even LESS sense than the invasion of Iraq.

    As Einstein is quoted as saying: “doing the same thing over again, and expecting a different result, is the essence of insanity”.

    Kylop asked those who think they are above average not if they scored so. You will find that most people think very highly of themselves.

    The chart shows at least 35% think above average.

    @rightisright

    And yet Conservatives continue to lower taxes and lower spending in a Depression and it still gets worse. When will they learn?

    No, that is the IQ spread. Not opinion polls. Try again. I don’t know how to put a graphic up here. Best I can do is leave a URL.

    Couldn’t find much except at Wikipeadia;
    Driving ability

    Svenson (1981) surveyed 161 students in Sweden and the United States, asking them to compare their driving safety and skill to the other people in the experiment. For driving skill, 93% of the US sample and 69% of the Swedish sample put themselves in the top 50% (above the median). For safety, 88% of the US group and 77% of the Swedish sample put themselves in the top 50%.25

    McCormick, Walkey and Green (1986) found similar results in their study, asking 178 participants to evaluate their position on eight different dimensions relating to driving skill (examples include the “dangerous-safe” dimension and the “considerate-inconsiderate” dimension). Only a small minority rated themselves as below average (the midpoint of the dimension scale) at any point, and when all eight dimensions were considered together it was found that almost 80% of participants had evaluated themselves as being above the average driver.26

    It is a series of commonly held reactions by most if not all humans. One I work to counter in my own life.
