    Idiots Explosive Deception

    I never thought I’d see the day when Republicans argued for free medical care delivered by emergency rooms, while Democrats argued that the poor should be forced to pay. Then I read (and understood, which seems to make me unique) the transcripts of the debate on the Affordable Health Care Act. Which is rather throughly misnamed, as it does nothing to make health care affordable, it just forces insurance companies to do something about it. Actually understanding how hospital bills are created and what the charges are is very nearly a PhD level subject. And that’s pathetic.

    We should have universal healthcare like other nations have.
    And yes I’ve heard all the tedious RWNJ talking points against it.

    Well, naturally. It is a Republican plan, something they were very willing to claim until Obama took it up as a desperate attempt to get SOMETHING passed. Obama’s first choice was a single-payer program — and in fact if we simply extended Medicare to the whole population it would be much cheaper. His second choice, people seem to have forgotten, was a nonprofit, self-funding, government-backed insurance company, which the insurance industry lobbied against, with the help of their supposedly “free-market” allies, the GOP.

    OTaxCare is looking worse and worse everyday. When do you cut out cancer instead of calling it a wonderful thing?

    Well, Ima, why don’t you ask Darrell Issa about his recently introduced bill H776? He has now “decided” that the Federal Health Benefits plan should be open to non-federal employees. Sure sounds like government health insurance to me! (Federal Times, issue delivered 3/7/13)

    Obamacare is a really, really big deal. Not perfect, and still the most expensive in the world, but it’s the free-market solution to a serious problem that kills over 40,000 Americans a year. If you’ve got your own solution Ima (just kidding! of course you don’t!) we’d love to hear it. “Stay healthy, but if you don’t stay healthy, die quickly before you bankrupt your family.”

    But if we had universal healthcare the sky would fall don’t ya know. Just like it did all those other soshulistik coontrys.

    And if you’re poor don’t forget to die young from an otherwise preventable disease and “reduce the excess population.”

    Maybe Obama’s plan was to make Obamacare, which was the Republicans’ initial proposal, so distasteful to them that they fight it and eventually propose universal health care themselves. Kind of like having that coworker or boss who won’t agree to anything unless you make it sound like they came up with the idea themselves.

    I fundamentally agree with you except “that’s pathetic”. Shouldn’t a system as complex as a health care system for 300+ million people be designed by PhD level intellects?

    @Fourcrows

    make Obamacare … so distasteful to them

    Since the GOP strategy is to oppose the President on everything I think the Republicans are pissed because he took something good that they came up with and forced them to be against it,
