    The president made his position quite clear, he would not yield on the taxes issue, the very same issue that the voters demonstrated they supported. It is the reTHUGlicans who have tried playing bully and refusing to yield to the will of the people.

    If no one blinks and we go over the cliff, Boehner will be in a much weaker position in January because 1) a majority of Americans will blame the GOP, and 2) there will be fewer GOP in the House and Senate, including fewer Tea Party members. So Boehner needs to decide whether he wants to blink now or later. Those are his only choices.

    Don’t blink Boehner, make people think the GOP is irrational and must be dumped.

    @Radish

    Actually, the majority of the people in the country already KNOW the GOP is irrational and must be dumped…

    I don’t want Obama to blink. I don’t give a whit whether Boehner blinks or not.

    Quick gimme a horse! “THE SEQUESTER IS COMING! THE SEQUESTER IS COMING!”…

    Most people don’t understand what it really means. It is a process designed to cut a certain amount of money from both defense and social services OVER TEN YEARS. It’s not like the budget for the military would be cut back to pre-9/11 numbers in one go. If you would do that you could KEEP THE SOCIAL SERVICES untouched. But that’s just crazy talk, Osama bin Laden will rise from the ocean any moment now, so you have to keep spending more than the 19 next nations combined

    yeah right, Mr. Bohner has capitulated. He came out and said he would agree to raising taxes on those making over a million ayear. The exact same thing former speaker Pelosi said she wanted a few months ago and the exact same thing sen. Schumer proposed in 2010. Guess what President Obama said. NO. Guess what Sen. Reid said. NO.

    Yep the party of NO – democrats – has struck again.

    Bruce, where did you get your information? Neither Pelosi nor Schumer ever supported keeping the Bush tax cuts on people earning a million dollars a year. Pelosi wanted it set at $100,000, Obama wanted $250,000 plus the payroll tax cut. The Republicans want taxes down on the rich and up on people who work, big surprise.

    Perhaps you should do a little research.

    Are you suggesting the those that make 250K a year do not work for it?
