Two Secret Service agents see Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton trying to scale the White House fence. They stand next to a sign that lists the previous inhabitants, which include George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush. Agent: A taller perimeter fence would help.
Jeb has no chance. The legal shenanigans he pulled trying to subvert the courts in the Terry Schaivo case will ensure he has little support from the Democrats. And he’s not hard right conservative enough for the Republican party, unless Republicans suddenly come to their senses and realize that requiring ideological purity is going to cost them members and votes. It hasn’t happened up to now, but stranger things have happened.
Ms. Clinton has one thing going for her: name recognition. Also, she’s a woman, which will gain her some votes. But it will probably also cost her some votes, so probably net it’s a wash.
We can hope that neither ends up as a candidate.
