    These military weapons are no match for my Steampunk Laser Gun.

    Why do cops on the street, sailors in submarines, or for that matter general officers doing press conferences wear “cammo” fatigues??? There is a disjunct psychology being played here to make “civilians” recognize, and accept that militarization so desired by the military industrial complex, and yes those “conservative thinkers” accept the omnipotent power of “the state”. It is NOT a “liberal” view of independent thought, questioning of “authority” misplaced, or subjugation of our freedoms.

    Cammo has become the 21st century version of “brown shirts” and in Italy at that time, black shirts. Acceptance becomes submission- not good for a free and democratic society…

    I like it. There is no dark side of human nature. It’s all dark.

    You’re the first one, I know of, to point that out! It IS very odd.

    Someone else, a few days back, pointed out that this is desert camoflage. In Missouri.

    I like the gun but does it actually do anything?

    For many years I’ve deplored the wearing of camo at all occasions. I just can’t figure out if this represents a [lame] attempt by the military to show that they are always ready or if shows just the military version of ‘casual Friday’ – every day of the week.

    “Move toward the light.”

    Every day! I run and I run to catch up with the Sun, but it’s sinking, and racing around to come up behind me again. As a result, I rise about 50 minutes later every day in my lunacy.

    Well said, dtroutma. From now on, I’ll use the term “camos” in place of brownshirts.

    @Hiram Bingham

    The identities of police persons and military personnel is never concealed. They are known to their superiors and accountable for their every action. Mobs, on the other hand, are wholly anonymous.

    That depends… How long have you been a superior of that officer and responsible for his actions?
    But we did, in fact, get the name and there would have been an investigation by internal affairs whether anybody called for one or not.
    Not that we got the name right away, of course. At first, we got the wrong name by citizens of superior moral and intellectual standing in the world whose judgments are above the law and in the name of Goodness.
    But how about another question? How long would it take the community of concerned and justice-seeking good citizens to identify and give up Michael Brown had he pummeled the officer into submission, successfully grabbed his gun and executed him OG style right then and there.
    Take your time.
    I’ve got ’til the end of the universe.

    I wonder if all the militarization of police departments has something to do with the Forbes 400 worrying about when the pitchforks are going to come out.
