And where did their money go? Well, it turns out that it went to German banks (among others), who profited handsomely. As Paul Krugman points out, Greece made some mistakes, but if you look at actual numbers, they work longer hours than anyone else in Europe, especially the Germans. That doesn’t fit into the austerians’ narrative, though. They want to take it out on Greek workers, just as Republicans love to blame unions for a crisis caused by large corporations.

The Greeks also have a lower cost of living, so their pensions are much less. Greece could be bailed out for less money than we waste on one weapons system.

Does anyone believe in self sufficiency or living within their means? All I see here is posters blaming someone else.

It still has a bottom. Keep digging yourself out of it by borrowing more money.

Greeks are paid less! Equal work for equal pay! Your idiot conjecture that Greeks have a lower cost of living is absurd. Greeks should receive a “living wage”. Be fair! It’s the right thing to do!

awww…. people making less money have less to retire on? Kind of like the welfare people not retiring millionaires? How SHOCKING!!!!! Has anyone told the news media of this revelation? That ‘one weapons system’ is keeping Americans safe and provided jobs for engineers, business degrees, unions, machinists, lawyers, local business, local governments through tax collection… the cycle goes on. And it kills terrorists.

The cost of living in Greece IS lower than that of Germany. Some market goods and restaurants are higher, but major costs are much lower. Look it up. Everyone should receive a “living wage” for their work. How else to we have what we fought for: “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.

Retired people need (and deserve) a system by which they can expect to maintain their lifestyle and have their health care ready to deal with their expenses in their old age. Promises made to them back when they COULD have been diverting the money they were contributing to their pensions must be honored. The rest of your yammering is not worth responding to.
