    I personally don’t care what this Duck Dynasty person says or believes about my sexuality. I don’t need his approval to live my life anymore than he needs mine. As long as he isn’t calling for (or alludes to) violence or the denial of civil rights, he can spout his beliefs about who is or isn’t a “sinner” from morning ‘til night. Just don’t expect me to pay any attention to it.

    I have to wonder about the pundits and politicians who’ve gone out of their way to express outrage or support for him. Would they react the same way if the issue were flipped? What would their reactions be if a gay “reality television” personality were to claim in a magazine interview that the so-called “Christian conservatives” were sinners who pervert the teaching of Jesus? What would their reaction be if he were then “indefinitely suspended” from his television show? Would the gay rights organization condemn what he said and demand he apologize, or would they condemn his suspension from the show? Would Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Sarah Palin, et al. show their support for his 1st Amendment right to voice his opinions against Christian conservatives, or would they denounce his statements?

    We all know the answer. Both sides would use use it as an opportunity to further their own agenda, just as they’re doing now.

    This isn’t about what some camouflage wearing millionaire swamp dweller said in a magazine, or his suspension from some pointless television show. It’s about gay rights organizations furthering their cause. It’s about political pundits getting time in front of the camera. It’s about politicians making sure their constituents see that they’re pandering to their beliefs. This is self interest pure and simple.

    Like most “reality TV” the whole thing, and the family, are fakes. Ah, Youtube videos show both them up for who they really are, and O’Reilly – winning wars with his pen, how brave of him.

    This whole backlash by the Progressive Left about this guy’s personal comments is insane, as in particular this cartoon is.
    There is a gay / LGBT cable channel: LOGO. Nobody seems to complain about that.
    It just seems to me to be typical Progressive Leftist behavior: Only their views count an can be allowed to stand. All others MUST be shouted down, villified, and trampled.
    I say that Mr. Robinson is entitled to his opinion as is everyone else. You don’t like his opinion? Say so politely. Debate it civilly. To try and censor, eliminate, abolish, or otherwise suppress it is not American; that is what happens in totalitarian states run by dictators.

    “…average less than two hours per week, scripted drama rather than silly people with odd ideas.”

    So, you watch Downton Abbey too?

    @Enoki

    A&E did not tell him he can’t have his opinions, he can, A&E is not obligated to provide him with a platform. He is in violation of his contract, a business contract, that A&E is enforcing. So, what program on LOGO is espousing hatred or termination of rights for str8 people? Your hatred for anyone different from you appears to be wide and deep, just look at your posts. You understanding of others that are different is very narrow and extremely shallow.

    As an immigrant I have great difficulty coming to grips that for some political correctness can trump free speech !

    He never made such comments regarding his opinions on A&E, but during an interview where he was specifically asked for his views by a publishing concern that deliberately provided a platform for his views and then published them, by their own discretion and the will of all the editors involved.
    If he were to present his opinions as part of his A&E performance, that would be an entirely separate matter, as are the interpretations of his comments separate from those comments themselves, and the reactions to those comments entirely separate from any justification, regarding their relative proportion to those comments.
    I believe that this is what the tolerant and superior folk call a red-meat automatic thoughtless reflex topic.

    I think he should pack up his Ducks and his 20 million viewers and find a network that tolerates all religious beliefs.
    I’m sure A&E can find another lame rerun to show and attract their normal 400k viewers.

    I believe that Glen Beck has made an offer.

    As far as content goes, I don’t know why a network like A&E would even air a show like Duck Dynasty. The very little that I know about the show, it doesn’t seem to fit what I remember the A&E brand to be. From what I’ve seen (commercials and merchandise) it would be more suited for a hunting or sporting related channel.

    Your comment reminds me of the hissy fits my father used to have when he realized during an argument that he was wrong.

    @Jase99

    Any argument will usually seem to be composed of two opposing views equidistant from the truth they are circling. More likely, they are never true particles, but waves that form a fairly uniform distribution of force equidistant from the truth. Even more likely, is that there is no actual balance evident, and it is only borrowed trouble and it is not helium, but only ordinary hydrogen, experiencing a case of valence bonding.
    There sure seems to be a lot of it.

    Seems to me it should be those who watch “Duck Dynasty” to decide about it. Not anyone else.
