    The problem is this :
Had our gun laws been up-to-date, thorough, complete, 100% , on the book and ENFORCED …this murder???? would NEVER HAVE HAPPENED !!!
People like me and GZ should never have lethal guns; NON-lethal is the answer.
This poli-toon would be correct if we replace GZ with ignorance and fear…..or the conservative extremists.

Zimmerman’s expression after the verdict was read said a lot – no change of expression at all. He knows that regardless of the outcome, his life changed for the worst. Perhaps there is some justice in that. Hopefully no vigilantes try to take anything into their own hands, as it would make him a bigger martyr for the “stand your ground” laws than Martin became for the opposition of those laws.

“…[Zimmerman’s] life changed for the worst.”
    .
“Worst”? Not hardly. Jail would be worse than the life he’s living. Especially given how he screamed like a little girl.
    .
“Worse”? Not hardly. He was a no respect nobody and now he’s a celebrity. He’ll parlay that into millions on the Gun Show, “Stand your Ground” circuit. The NRA and probably FOX News will “help him defray his legal bills and help him rebuild his life.”

It has now become legal to purposefully pick a fight with someone, and then gun them down in cold blood, and justify it under the rubric of “self defense”.

    Be afraid, be very afraid.

Sat on a jury where in a bar fight, a kid who outweighed his victim, had four friends to back him up, and was a champion wrestler, started the fight, and bit the victim’s nose off. He claimed self defense, the other jurors were ready to let him off, until I explained the law, the dangerous nature of the injury, and that it was DEFENSE testimony that proved the defendant started the fight intentionallly.

We convicted the guy of assault, and he served five years in prison. (We also found out after the trial that this was the fourth time the guy had attacked and bitten people!)

As to Florida, hunting season is open, bad laws make the streets MORE dangerous.

    Disturbing…a very, very wrong situation…
I , for one, would be outraged by this…..
A madman was nearly released to the public for his consumption…
    Thank you, dtroutma….

True points, RV, but myself, I would feel safer in prison where, even though at least 2/3 of the inmates wanted my head, there is still some measure of control over the environment by prison officials. Yes, he is a dubious celebrity now, but now he will walk around for at least a few years worried that someone is out to get him. That is worse to me. And you know that if the next time he’s attacked and he defends himself, it will be a lot harder for his defense to get him off.
Perhaps he and Casey Anthony can shack up together for a new reality series – “Somewhere in Siberia”.

Electing a representative who will permit looneys to wander around with guns is Darwinism in its purest form.

In Florida, if someone is following you, it’s safest to shoot them first — before they get a chance to shoot you in self defense.

“In Florida, if someone is following you, it’s safest to shoot them first — before they get a chance to shoot you in self defense.”

Yup. I doubt the folks supporting Zimmerman would see it the same way if Martin had been armed & shot the stranger who was following him in the dark.

That is not what happened and you know it.

Martin picked the fight. Martin threw the first punch. Martin was trying to beat Zimmermans’s head into the concrete sidewalk. Martin was the one that said, “You are gonna die tonight”

Zimmerman did what any reasonable man would do in that situation. He fired one shot into the chest of a man trying to kill him. That ended the conflict. That IS SELF DEFENSE. Now if you don’t want to defend yourself, fine. Let some one four inches taller than you and a lot more muscular pound your head into a concrete sidewalk and see if you don’t fear for you life or that you will sustain severe bodily injury.

The person most responsible for the death of trayvon martin was trayvon martin.

    @yusodum

I consider it irresponsible to elect representatives that would remove your ability to defend yourself from people that will attack you like trayvon did to zimmerman.

Zimmerman acted in a reasonable manner to an attack on his person, an actual attack, not just a threat, that could have killed him or inflicted severe bodily injury.

Perhaps you prefer to live in a society where thugs attacking people who have no means of defending their lives is the norm. For myself, I will never give up my right to defend my life using any and all weapons at hand at the time of the attack upon me or those in my care and protection.

Yeah, there’s nothing unreasonable about a guy chasing kids around in the dark.

A most excellent comic. This is what people are trained to see and taught to believe. Fortunately, they cannot appreciate the irony, given that they will not rest until Zimmerman is found lying on the sidewalk for the whole world to see, having crossed the wrong suspect wandering about in a suspicious fashion on a dark night in a troubled neighborhood. Maybe it will turn out different this time.
