I love Bors, but the last panel in this strip is entirely inaccurate.

Business as usual. Keep the issues alive for leverage by never solving any problem without making more in the bargain.

Today’s New York Times has an article about the atrocity that Washington and Colorodo have stopped prosecuting people abusing illegal narcotics, and the Obama administration will a) have to send Federal agents to arrest all the addicts in those states; and b) file lawsuits to force the states to enforce the law.
The narcotic marijuana is strictly banned under Federal Law, the law’s the law, and the Obama administration does not tolerate violations.
And a good thing, too, since we don’t need millions more drug addicts hopelessly addicted to the narcotic marijuana.
And those who claim marijuana isn’t a narcotic should look at Federal Law. Next you’ll be claiming tomatoes are a fruit, another heinous violation of Federal Law.

None of the cartoonists have taken on the story of Jim Demented who feels he has more power taking over a think tank rather than being one of 100 senators.

I believe that is possible because corporations are people too.

This reminds me of the time George W. Bush bombed me because I didn’t think he was conservative enough. Yes, I really am that consequential!

Bors is right on target.
.
For what it’s worth, quite a few people I know who might otherwise support Obama loathe him because of the War on Drugs (even more so because he was an admitted druggie); and droning innocent people.

Matt Bors, Ted Rall lite.

Not that they are wrong, but Bors makes the point with less acid after taste.

Personally, I am very disappointed in Mr. Obama’s priorities, as well. But until the Republicans choose a candidate who can think for himself (or herself) and does not feel that every crisis can be solved with military intervention, they will not get my vote. Bob Dole, the Bush family, John McCain v.2 (with the brain transplant that made him change from considering Jerry Falwell an agent of intolerance to considering him an asset), and Mitt “Emergency Room care is free” Romney? Please.
John Huntsman: if you run as a democrat, you’ll probably win. If you run as a Republican again, the desertion of your party will be magnified. After all, you believe in science, and you are not as inflexible as you need to be.

The term ‘narcotic’ is not scientific; anyone can use it to mean pretty much anything. Its literal meaning is any drug which is capable of inducing drowsiness; in that sense, of course it’s a narcotic. It’s also substantially less addictive, by scientific study, than alcohol, tobacco, or caffeine. That’s not to say it’s entirely nonaddictive, but there is absolutely no reason to treat it with any greater horror than we reserve for any of those substances — especially since it’s also less bad for your body than at least two of the three.
