This reminds me of a Sunday Doonesbury comic during the Reagan administration. Each panel, an elf at a PC would mention the name of a cabinet member of Reagan’s, such as James Watt of the Interior Department. He would then run down the fact that Watt, for example, worked hard to dismantle anything resembling conservation, and to work to have the taxpayer build roads into national parks so that loggers and miners, who paid almost nothing for the opportunity, could do their work on federal lands. Then he would ask, “Naughty or Nice?” Santa would say, “Naughty.” This repeated throughout the strip, one panel at a time, until the next-to-last, where the elf said, “Ronald Wilson Reagan. The person who put all of these people in their positions of power. Naughty, right?” Santa said, “But he seems so nice.” The elf typed in nice, and the last panel had a dropdown menu: “Fruitcake? Yes____ No____”

This false-fairness ignores the fact that the president is proposing what the people just elected him to do, and the GOP is proposing what we said we don’t want.
