Trent Lott is a perfect example of the type of limp-wristed, feminized wimp who helped drive the GOP into the friggin GROUND.
There’s a reason the GOP first came to power back when it had a ballsy, just-the-facts guy in charge named Newt Gingrich. It’s why both the liberal media and the girl-government party known as Demoncrats had such coniptions when Newt took over: because he was a straight-talkin’ take-no-prisoners MAN. He got things done, inspired millions of men like me to ride the elephant alongside him, and was busy working on downsizing the feds and closing cabinet agencies right on up till the day he was demagogued into leaving…

scott, you seem to mixing up an aggressive, “do whatever it takes to demonize the opposition,” guy like Newt (who has shown a tendency to ditch the facts whenever inconvenient) with a “strong man.” Incidentally, the Contract on – excuse me, “for” America didn’t get passed. Know why? A strong, straight-talking Senator named Teddy Kennedy, who knew how to bring both parties together. HE got things done.
By the way, if a “ballsy” “straight-talkin’” man is one who is a deadbeat dad who sleeps around on his wife and abandons her when she is ill – including having his wife and children have to be supported by their church, then you can have him. Yeah, it’s documented. Look it up.

“To get along, go along” (Sam Rayburn)
Sam Rayburn (1882-1961) was a Texas Congressman who was a longtime and effective Speaker of the House. “To get along, go along” (also sometimes phrased “go along to get along”) was, some say, his advice to young Congressmen.

LOL, ROFL! Newt!! Mr. “Got my hand in the pork barrel” Newt?? Mr. Get a book contract, to heck with the law, Newt? Contract ON America, Newt?
It took a lot to stomach Lott, but even HE wasn’t quite as corrupt as Newtie.

When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, that all the dunces are all in confederacy against him. Obama can manage this fray. He clearly should take his intelligent dialogue to the people often to offset the noise from the lunatic right. First line is Jonathan Swift 1667-1745

Borrowed by John Kennedy Toole.
But Obama is certainly not a true genius as each passing day is showing.

^ I don’t have any objection to posting here but all too often each of us probably writes a long post that the other person never gets to see. As for example evidently MM has not seen 2 posts above.
