Marmaduke is America's most lovable Great Dane. Created by Brad Anderson, the classic comic canine has delighted newspaper readers since 1954. Marmaduke lives with the Winslow family, who, try as they might, just can't seem to get him to obey. Despite his antics, the playful pooch is top dog in the neighborhood and on the comics page, where he has endeared himself to readers in more than 20 countries. The daily panel also strikes a chord with pet owners, many of whom write to Anderson to comment on Marmaduke as if he were a real dog.

If cats have been brought up around dogs, they’re not afraid of them! My mom feeds a colony of feral cats that come from the horse farm behind us, and there’s a female that I call Sandy that lives on my back deck. She loves Mom’s black Lab (and adored Mom’s St. Bernard before she had to put Luann down), but she won’t let a human near her.

Our St Bernard fell in love with our youngest cat when he was just a kitten
Now they play together and sleep together like siblings

I had a cat amed Vixen (she was a mean little runt!) and she’d lay down in the driveway and dare anybody to run her over. I would put a harness and leash on her and she would just plop over on her side and refuse to move. I took her for a short drag once. Only once!

I used to have a big orange tom cat. He was in charge and he knew it.

Dogs didn’t chase him.

Along time ago, my big dog chased a cat in an alley, then at the back of the yard. I heard a load Yowl, and came running… A couple of seconds later, my dig dog came running out of the yard, follow by the cat miauling and spitting. After that incident, he gave Hissing cats a wide berth. Years later, the same dog adopted a kitten, washing it, taking care of it, an feefing it dog biscuits and briging it to me. We loved that cat. When it dies, the dog was heart broken. Did not eat for weeks.
