Marmaduke is America's most lovable Great Dane. Created by Brad Anderson, the classic comic canine has delighted newspaper readers since 1954. Marmaduke lives with the Winslow family, who, try as they might, just can't seem to get him to obey. Despite his antics, the playful pooch is top dog in the neighborhood and on the comics page, where he has endeared himself to readers in more than 20 countries. The daily panel also strikes a chord with pet owners, many of whom write to Anderson to comment on Marmaduke as if he were a real dog.

Bravo brad, you’ve reached a new plain of nonsense. Marm put a hole in a perfectly good roof for a unnecessary umbrella that he can’t even hold onto do to his obvious lack of thumbs. Then he stole the garage.

Maybe that was his sun roof and it leaks…The car will be fine for one day, Marm will get mushy if left out…

They either didn’t realize it was going to storm or figured he’d tear up the house.

You are always Marm’s champion. Just curious – do you have a dog of your own?

Sorry, no; keeping a pet is beyond my financial means.
But as there are many dogs in my neighborhood, I can live vicariously with other peoples’ pets.

AWWWE POOR PHIL AND DOTTIE THEY CAME HOME JUST A WEE BIT SOONER THAN WHAT THEY WERE EXPECTED.

Marm was lucky that the umbrella didn’t get hit by lightning. And you would have thought that they would have bolted down his dog house. Poor Marm.

And Marmaduke. Pets can be expensive and I can’t even imagine the cost with Marm. I don’t have any pets either.

@ok then
@ok then: That’s ‘due’ to his lack of thumbs, not ‘do’ to his lack, and ‘an’ unnecessary umbrella, not ‘a’ unnecessary one. And surely you wouldn’t begrudge poor Marm a nice, safe garage when he’s home alone in a nasty storm!

My thoughts exactly. Actually, why leave a dog outside any time?

I have 9 pets. And I happily do without a “smart” phone/xbox/ipad so I can afford them!
