remember that bumper sticker….It will be a great day when our schools have all the money they need, and our air force has to have a bake-sale to buy a bomber.

The U.S. average public school teacher salary for 2011–12 was $55,418. State average public school teacher salaries ranged from those in New York ($73,398), Massachusetts ($71,721), and Connecticut ($69,465) at the high end to South Dakota ($38,804), Mississippi ($41,646), and Oklahoma ($44,391) at the low end.
Not bad for 8 months work

Yet, we expect our kids to come out of high school prepared for life and/or college and they’re usually not. You get what you pay for. And you couldn’t pay me double that to deal with the harassment (both from kids and parents) that teachers have to deal with.

If that day comes they won’t be teaching English.

I would have liked to have seen the financial statements of our public schools when I attended them. I would like to see the sports related expenses compared to what they spent on textbooks. They spent $0 on textbooks and blew the whole budget on expensive, pro-type sports equipment that was always kept up to the highest degree. There is no question that the cost of all the pro basketballs by themselves, outclassed the total textbook expenses.

This is a repeat. I know because I mailed it to a friend of mine named Maria, because this fits her personality. Are all of them going to be repeats?

We’ve actually explained several times already, but every day it seems somebody missed it: we got way behind (doing two comic strips on top of our other work takes time) so we’re running two weeks of repeats to give ourselves a chance to catch up. I’m still sitting here waiting for more Maria gags (John’s written lots of new Working Daze ones.) If they don’t come soon, then sure, I could write some myself- but so far we haven’t bought any from ghost writers. But first I’ll wait for John to write ‘em, cause that’s what it says on the right side of this page that he does!

From yesterday, I really don’t mind reruns, just thought I would throw a couple of Rugrats references your way, hence the Bob line and the Pickle line.
