Who remembers that this Bart Simpson ‘quote’ was not originally a part of the show? It had many people up in arms about The Simpsons, even though protestors often hadn’t seen a single episode. The underachiever quote came from the spin-off merchandise. When it was finally used on the show, it was said with a wink to the whole uproar.

You mean the T-shirt I payed three dollars for at the swap meet wasn’t official authorized merchandise?

People would criticize “The Simpsons” by fixating on Bart but ignoring Lisa who is the polar opposite. She has an I.Q. of 156 yet still in regular school classes. (Hard for the gifted to find places that will help them unlike the sub or slow learners.)

She may have to learn fractions in college, depending on her major.

The underachiever shirts were indeed official and authorized. It’s just that that phrase was made up for the shirts.
