MAC’s tinkering habit got slightly out of control. He was a handyman to neighbors and friends, one thing led to another and now he’s a (self-described), land baron. More a corporal than a captain of industry, he believes he’s in charge of his own destiny. His wife, daughter, dog, tenants, and practically everyone else in the world has a different, and occasionally sympathetic understanding of his foibles. Follow him as he copes with a disparate collection of daily challenges with droll aplomb.

President Garfield lived more than a month after he was shot. They think he would have recovered if they had just left him alone.

An obscure (to Americans) reference to the current scandal in the UK where a big frozen food outfit in England was supposedly putting horsemeat in their lasagne.

It’s not obscure. We know about the horsemeat. And we’re also clever enough to remember Garfield likes lasagna.
What we didn’t get was the actual punchline. “Looks like Garfield was onto something all those years.”
Cats like horsemeat? Garfield likes horsemeat? Garfield always suspected Jon of using horsemeat? I don’t get it.

And yes, we know they shoot horses and Garfield.

In the US horse meat is used in pet food.

Swims; did you see a different punch line?
It seems to have been compromised some way as in William’s comment. Curious.
