    Most of them never do leave the streets.

    ..and equipped with gotta-have-but-never-needed 4 × 4 drive.
    I also like the ludicrous names of these suburban cruisers:
    Escape, Excursion, Expedition, Yukon, Discovery, Mountaineer, Range Rover,Pathfinder
    and like simpsonfan said, they NEVER leave the streets

    The only time I see 4WD in action is when it snows. Then the 4WD comes on and jackrabbit starts from dead stop start to be seen everywhere. Of course 4WD does nothing to stop the 8000# + cruisers!

    Escape, Expedition, Yukon….it makes the driver FEEL as if they are big, bad, toughies braving the wilds of suburbia, dodging little electric cars and pedestrians. It’s a whole experience ;).

    Actually, I’m surpised Lucky Cow didn’t come out with some kind of projector that covers the windsheild of your SUV. You’d have a windshield filled with forest, paths, mountains, and you wouldn’t have to see the pedestrians you run over.

    Until it snows. Then the buggers end up in ditches, ravines, store windows and other cars, because the drivers don’t realize that 4-wheel drive is no replacement for effective driving technique.

    @Bob

    As has already been stated, an SUV is no replacement for skilled driving.
