Today’s strip is a must – have along with the one from April 3rd where Brad accepts Toni’s proposal. Nice shot, Greg…

Of course the problem will be when Shannon tells all that to Toni…

I will have to say Shannon must hold Brad in very high regard as she thinks a million girls would ask for his hand in marriage.

Shannon isn’t stupid. She’s just going along with the game.

“Back to Bwad? In the past she pronounced Brad correctly.”

Initially, “Bwad” was Shannon’s way of demanding attention – now it is a pet name.

    Somebody has a new Daddy.

It’s natural that Shannon would want to believe that her “aunt” isn’t going to marry a loser. Kids are sweet, the way they want things to be good and special. She probably won’t threaten B-Wad’s fragile ego until she’s eleven or so, when she’s his intellectual equal.

I think it’s difficult when the young find that the people they admire do things they don’t expect. Shannon believes boys are the ones to do the proposing and so she is surprised/disappointed when Brad didn’t do that. Brad’s little lies here change the rules as Shannon knows them — If a boy is really great then the first girl to ask him wins. Shannon thinks Brad is really great, so she can easily believe what Brad is saying.

I suspect Brad is lying to make himself feel better. We saw how down he got yesterday when Shannon started questioning him about the proposal. This sort of lie would not be necessary, if the proposal had not been so humiliating, and Evans is hammering the point again with this comic strip.
