LUANN is about the trials of becoming a young adult: the hilarity and drama, triumphs and flops, friendships and rivalries. Rich in character and intriguing "what'll happen next?!" stories, LUANN is a compelling saga of life's most volatile stage. Greg Evans was voted Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year in 2003 by the National Cartoonists Society.

It happened 23 years ago today. The world became a better and more entertaining place. Where there was darkness, light was created. I am talking of course about the birth of Sideshow Starlet. Happy number 23, Starlet. Hope you have a great day.
Leviticus.

Ask, or not to ask. That is the question.

My favorite “vintage” Luann: September 19, 1994

The artwork has improved dramatically since 1988.

Oh, my gosh! Thank you!!! I haven’t commented in such a long time, and you figure out my birthday!
…
I thought you were going to say something about Luann, and I kept reading, thinking that it would be a cool coincidence to have a Luann-related event occur on the day I was born. But this is even better than I imagined. Not only do I have an entire comment concerning the day of my birth, but it’s the first comment posted on today’s page! You rock!!!

Sorry Donny, but reading novels in a comic page is not my thing.

I had a good paying job, married for a little over a year, no kids yet, gas was $1.15 a gallon, still renting a house for $420 a month with “the Gipper” in the White House, in Sept of 1988.

Miles, I had 4 year old, a 2 year old, and a new baby. Tiny apartment, not enough money. Now have a son-in-law, twin granddaughters, and another daughter getting married this month.
Miss my waistline though!

Donny, you aren’t all that. Quit lecturing. If you were so brilliant, we’d be reading your strip.

What struck me is how much the “dolled up” Luann looks like her mother (her mother of yesteryear, that is.)

Without the title and the names, I would not recognize these kids as Luann and Bernice (I didn’t start reading Luann until relatively recently).

Actually I think the art has become much more homogenized and cookie-cutter over time.

Look up “rhetorical question” in the dictionary and you’ll see this cartoon.
