    Tiffany could always be adopted by the Kardashians.

    Tiffany just expects to attain the glory of being a star without having to do the work of being an actor. Am sure there are lots of situations like that in Hollywood. However, the strategy just may not work for Tiffany…she just may be expected to have beauty…and brains….much to her chagrin.

    I would love to see a week or so of Brad and Toni. It’s been a long time since they were in this comic strip.

    Wow…I hate to admit it, but Tiffany actually has a valid point. She may even get lucky enough to pull it off……

    @Baslim the begger

    Peter O’Toole ! Lawrence of Arabia, A Lion in Winter. More to the point of this thread, his line in “My Favorite Year”, “I’m not an actor, I’m a movie star !”

    A lot of them are not stars, they are celebrities.

    You can be a star AND an actor, or you can be either. Many, many stars have little or no acting ability, but they look gorgeous on screen. Many wonderful actors don’t even get their names remembered because they look just like the rest of us and do so good a job at acting, people don’t notice them , so you take them for granted (and by that I mean you can’t see they are acting – that is how good they are). Some fabulous actors work and earn a good living for years before Hollywood (or others) notice them and they become stars (e.g. Judi Dench, Alan Rickman), though they have been appreciated by fans and casting directors for yonks. I think these tend to be the ones who don’t worry quite so much about getting, and looking, older – they know they’re good and that age adds character. Stars are dependent upon their appearance for EVERYTHING.
    You’ll be a great star, Tiffany!

    Since Luann is talking to Tiff … doesn’t she mean :" I don’t see how you can be a star without being an actress" , since they are both female.

    Sadly, even in real life, it’s the rude, pushy, obnoxious ones that are noticed and promoted.
    I still think that if Tiff got even one teeny break in something in her life, she’d be happier and fit right in with the rest. But, then her character wouldn’t be so amusing. So………………………

    @Lord Feff

    The preference to use “actress” for females and “actor” for males has been dropped. Nowadays, “actor” does not necessarily imply gender.

    Tiffany has an unrealistic view of the world and how it works. This will cause her to make decisions with consequences that will cause her to feel hurt She is incapable of realizing this via a sensible discussion.

    In my view, this qualifies her as being mentally ill.

    In addition, to get started on a good career path, one needs to establish some credibility / credentials. This is true for actors as well as engineers and other professions, regardless of how much talent someone has. Luann will get that from college. Tiffany doesn’t realize the days of “being discovered” are long gone.
